    It’s not clear. A lot of people who do it the other way don’t get the points and Amex refuses when you appeal it. However, nothing is lost and indeed it may be fine to go Business to Personal.

      Referred from Amex Gold Personal to Amex Gold Business last week and points posted to personal account within 48 hours of approval of business account so IME works both ways.

  Just had excellent service from BA Holidays through the web chat. Holiday to Canada was due to depart in May, before the earliest date given by Government for international travel. No quibbles, cash refund arranged within a few minutes. Much better than trying to get through on the phone.

  Also, if you wanted to book a one way ticket from abroad to the UK is there a way to change the currency on the BA website to pounds instead of the respective currency?

    No, but if you call BA they will usually let you pay in STG. Sometimes it works out more expensive but usually is equivalent to the foreign price you see.

  If I have to transit (let’s say Zurich) on the way to Dubai (in Nov), what problems can I expect?
  There could be more tests required at Zurich and Dubai and a higher chance of testing positive.
  If Dubai adds Swiss to red list, will I not be allowed to enter?

    Depends on each country – for example some have their own testing requirements even for transit passengers – NL is one of them from memory – so if they differ from your final destination (say PCR for transit airport vs. antigen ok for destination airport), you have to make sure you satisfy both

    There is a lot of water to pass under the bridge before Nov. Certainly increased risk throwing in a connection but it seems futile to try and quantify that now.

    Both could happen, of course. Your only way to be totally safe, assuming the UK and UAE are OK, is a direct flight.

        Tryst me, it only happens when you don’t earn bonus points. Sometimes, VERY occasionally it does it anyway but less than 1% of the time.

        Analyse it over the long term and you’ll notice the trend. I’ve been a massive nectar collector for 2 and a bit years, it’s fair to say I know how it works

          With the greatest respect, you’re talking rubbish. Have over £2k of nectar points and can assure you I rarely shop in Sainsburys without getting a bonus on something I buy, and regularly get the rub the screen promo.

  Is there a reason why credit card offers/bonuses/mileage accrual are so so unattractive in the UK? The US for one, or even Singapore, is a hell lot more attractive!

    The US ones are certainly better, but not necessarily quite as good as they seem. For instance Amex sign-up bonuses are once per lifetime (for that specific card). Also you can’t usually get a pro-rata refund of the annual fee when cancelling a card.

    In the Priority Pass app, under Club Aspire T3 is says “This lounge is temporarily closed and will reopen on 19th April 2021”

    However I can’t find any other infro re: T3 online

          CX and QF lounges will probably remain shut even if the terminal reopens as their flights are all suspended from LHR currently and for the foreseeable.

          +1. My worry. Unless the QF lounge in particular, with that interesting gin bar, can pay its way with admissions billed to other OneWorld airlines I can’t see it reopening.

          IIRC Qantas has twice now talked about prospective dates for reopening international flights and I think the Australian government said whatever’s Ocker for “We’ll decide that, thankyou” 🙂
