Save up to 30% in IHG’s European hotel flash sale

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

If you need to lock in any IHG hotels for stays before 5th September, you should take a look at the latest IHG flash sale.

The headline discount is up to 30% off the Best Available Rate. This is available exclusively to IHG Rewards members, so it’s a good time to sign up to the programme if you are one of the six HfP readers who has not already done 🙂  Non-members receive a smaller discount of 20%.

IHG Europe flash sale

These Flash Sale offers are available at hotels across the IHG portfolio, including Kimpton, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn.

There isn’t much small print to worry about:

  • It is available for stays between 26th March and 5th September 2021
  • You must book by 1st March
  • Only European hotels are included

All bookings are on ‘book now, pay later’ rates.  This means that the sale is better value than usual.

When IHG usually has a sale, it discounts from the refundable rate even though sale rates are usually not refundable.  You were not getting the full saving, because non-refundable rates are always a bit cheaper than refundable ones.  In this case, as the sales rates ARE cancellable, it is a ‘proper’ saving.

Don’t forget to register for the current IHG promotion

These sale rates will qualify for the current IHG Rewards promotion, although due to current restrictions few readers will be able to take advantage.

You receive 2,000 bonus points for every two nights you stay by 31st March.  These nights do NOT need to be consecutive.

Importantly, the 2,000 bonus points are treated as base points and so will count towards status for 2022.

You can register for the offer here using promo code 42050.

The flash sale booking page is here.  Remember that you need to book by 1st March.

    Excellent.

Just saved myself €100 by cancelling and rebooking a weekend in Amsterdam in August that was already a BNPL so this is a saving of around 10% over that.

  • Dubious says:

hmm, the IHG landing page says
” for stays at participating IHG® branded hotels in Europe between 26 March 2021 and 5 September 2021″

whereas further up the page there is a link to some terms and conditions which say:
“for stays at participating IHG® branded hotels in the UK and Europe between 26 March 2021 and 5 September 2021”

Looks like the latter might be an error though given the URL

  • mark2 says:

Since UK is in Europe what is the difference?

      • Dubious says:

Thought it might help show that more hotels are available than the article indicated. Initial dummy searches suggested the promo applied the UK hotels too but doing some more searches for later dates seems to indicate UK hotels are indeed excluded.

  • Anna says:

Nice not looking any cheaper for August – and the IC Cannes seems to have fallen off the list altogether! It will be interesting to see which countries ignore Angela Merkel and open up for tourism regardless this summer.

    • Jonathan says:

I think the IC Cannes is closed for refurbishment for a long time .Well into 2022

    • ChrisBCN says:

Bizarre comment, it’s down to individual countries to open their borders

    • Michael C says:

Never see good price/quality for Nice, Anna. We have a (too soon?!) reservation for first week of June: I’ve actually gone the other way and reserved for the not-so-brilliant Novotel, but at least it has a decent pool for small one, and great location near the smaller train station for Italy/Monaco.

    • Harry T says:

Stop trolling us all, Anna 😂 we all know the European nations are free to do what they want with borders and they did so last year! Merkel is leaving her position soon anyway.

  • Aston100 says:

UK is within Europe, but this offer seems not to apply to UK hotels.

Switzerland is also within Europe (and also not in the EU) but this offer does seem to apply to the 3 hotels I looked at in Zurich.

So what are IHG defining as Europe?

  • Chris K says:

Australia takes part in the Eurovision song contest but seem to be excluded from this ‘Europe’ offer. Explain that, IHG! #outraged

  • Harry T says:

There are some decent rates for the Kimpton in Amsterdam.
