  Another one – anyone know a way to make combine avoid work? Got 110k or so in an avios/aer Lingus account that I need to use for a larger redemption, but the page just errors and tells me my session has timed out when I try it (even when only just logged in)

    You’ll find the miles only show when you spend a certain amount (usually £100 or so) which makes it pointless doing this. It won’t work on a $2 Delhi hostel.

  I would welcome some advice please on the FTV
  BA have cancelled outbound flight to DEN on 28th April. Return two weeks later apparently still valid but assume it’s going a similar way.
  Used full Avios plus 241 to secure the Business seats(flight appeared to have new club suite so disappointed not to experience this) and my understanding is I can get a FTV or rebook within 355 days etc or claim double Avois and no cash.
  Currently thinking of an FTV but would appreciate any thoughts from more knowledgeable folk.

  Is there anywhere to buy discounted Amazon gift cards at the moment? I have a few £100 of purchases to make via amazon. Never buy enough when Morrisons have their 10% promos!

    Have 10% at Spar at the moment with LBG.

    I had bought some “Instant” Mastercards through a work scheme recently when I needed to top up. They were at 5%, but have dropped back to 1%.

    Also use my Spree Card to buy some in Wilko with a 5% turn.

    Self referrals could get you banned and you may end up getting your accounts closed on you by Amex. Be careful! If you value your relationship with Amex, stay away from self referrals.

    You can argue, if it ever gets looked at and never had issues from my side, that it isn’t a self referral as you ‘assumed’ that you were referring a ‘business as a separate legal entity’ (alebit ultimately you have joint and several liability for the account with the business, assuming it is an incorporated company).

      If the MR’s will be going into the same pot then it’s a bit tricky to argue it’s not a self referral although they’d probably let you off for one occurrence.

      I definitely wouldn’t be advising self referral anymore though based on what happened in the States. Yes there are no reports of action against U.K. card holders yet but that was the same over there until they did a big sweep & culled lots of people for having done it in preceding years rather than just drawing a line in the sand & saying no more.

  Hi
  Is there an easy way to see how many Avios a redemption flight booking cost me? It doesn’t seem to even be on the receipt.
  It was a 2-4-1 economy lhr to cfu flight booked during the 50% sale.
  I have looked back at mine and my partners Avios transaction history and it seems to have cost 12,750 in total. I would have thought 50% of 17,000 is 8,500?

    Using BA reward finder London to Corfu in economy is 8,500 one way off peak and 10,000 one way peak. So a bit confused as even peak travel both ways would cost 10,000 on a 50% deal. Do you have a household account? Even so don’t understand how you would be charged 12,750 Avios. Are you sure you bought economy?

    If you bought a combination of economy off peak outbound costing 8,500 Avios and business off peak inbound costing 17,000 Avios then that would be 12,750 Avios on a 50% deal.

  I have tried to book internal US flights for cash on BA’s website, but it doesn’t allow me or I’m doing something wrong.
  Does anyone know if you can book them via BA by phone, or have experience of booking them by phone. I’ll rather have BA FTV’s than AA or Alaska’s. BA flights to USA are in August.

    Yeah, sure you can do it by phone. You may need to spoon-feed the agent if it’s a connection.

        Maybe I’m remembering this wrong, but I didn’t think it was ever possible to book them with BA directly if there isn’t an international connection? Likewise, you cannot book BA domestics on AA.com without a connection.

        Possibly by phone as others have mentioned, but I’m not sure that would work either.

      To add. There are loads of flights available on ‘Google Flights’ including AA and Alaska. Although I think Alaska are still not bookable with Avios on BA.com.
      Booking ‘first’ on Alaska & AA is cheaper than main cabin if you include the baggage charges! on a lot of the flights.

        I think there’s something wrong with BA’s website as it won’t even allow me to choose USA as the source destination. That said I could see reward flight availability on AA flights in August on the BA rewards app. Have you considered using Avios? It’s only 7500 Avios one way in economy and those bookings are flexible as are all reward bookings.

          Unfortunately almost all of my Avios went into the 5 return seats with (2) 2-4-1’s on club to LAX. Only have 20k left and Tesco was my main earner. I have enough Virgin miles to do Vegas to SFO on Delta. If we have to cancel then I prefer BA’s FTV for an European booking.
          This will be the 3rd attempt of my daughter’s Vegas wedding.
