The Daily Mail has been emailing selected members of its MyMail website with a generous subscription offer.

You will receive 30,000 Nectar points (worth 18,750 Avios) when you subscribe to ‘The Ultimate Pack’ of the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday for just two months.

If you are not a fan of the Mail, don’t worry. You do not receive physical newspapers. You receive a book of vouchers in the post which can be redeemed daily at your local newsagent – or binned if you prefer.

The price is £26.80 per month, so £53.60 in total. The Nectar points will arrive within “25 days of renewing the second month subscription“.

This is, clearly, a very good deal at £53.60 for 18,750 Avios. The only reason I am not pushing it harder is that the offer is not openly showing on the MyMail website. You need this link from the email.

On the other hand, the T&Cs in the email do not say that it is only open to the recipient:

“Offer available to new subscribers taking out a subscription between 12.02.21 and 28.02.21. UK residents aged 18+. To collect £150 worth of Nectar points, buy a subscription to The Ultimate Pack, paying for a minimum of two consecutive months, price £26.80 pcm. £150 worth of Nectar points will be credited per person, per one subscription only, within 25 days of renewing the second month subscription. Subscription will auto renew after the expiry of the first calendar month at a cost of £26.80.”

(EDIT: To add to the confusion, it seems that the confirmation page you see is an old one and shows a different set of terms which mention a three month minimum. Caveat emptor.)

You should create a MyMail account and link it to your Nectar account before signing up.

For absolutely clarity, do not sign-up for this unless you are prepared to accept some risk that you will not receive the points because you did not receive the original email.

As a no-risk alternative, you may want to register with MyMail, link your account to your Nectar account, and wait to see if you are targetted for a similar offer in the future.

    Not something I will jump at unless I know the points will post, however I expect care homes would be grateful for any unwanted vouchers.

    I’ve gone for it. Other half buys the Mail every day, much to my disgust and despite my best efforts to direct her to a better newspaper! However upside is that this is essentially a risk free punt for the points, this may be the first time I have been happy about the Mail turning up in our household every day….

    I wouldn’t choose the Mail as a first choice, but if it was between reading the Mail and reading the Guardian with its smug undertones I would choose the Mail every time

      The Mail is more fun.

      If you want to depress yourself look at the Mirror or the Express.

      The Mail is quite staid in comparison.

      And no one on here has ever explained why every day with a substantial number arriving, in Waitrose the paper that sells out first every day is the Daily Mail.

    This one sounds too good to be true and we all know the end of that line. I’ve created a DM account and linked it to my Nectar and am now going to wait, as “ in the next few days we’ll be in touch with more information and an exclusive offer.” I’m guessing it’s the one the article is about and if so I’ll take the offer.

      I think most likely is that if it starts costing the Daily Mail too much money they will simply pull that link to register for the offer but I can’t see them not honouring it for anyone who has already managed to register. But its still an awful lot more trouble to go to earn 18,000+ Avios than taking out a new Amex card and spending on it for a few months.

    There is nothing in the application flow that mentions a minimum term, until AFTER you have bought it, when it says 3 months.

    There is nothing in the general terms online stating a minimum term for this offer.

    There are terms for expired Nectar offers which have a minimum 3 month term.

    It is possible that the sign up confirmation screen which states 3 months is a left over from the previous offer.

    Given that nowhere during the sign up process does it say 3 months until after you have paid, there is a strong argument to use in any complaints – take screenshots during signup – but of course they won’t have to respond to any complaints.

    I think they just forgot to update the confirmation page. The email terms – two and second – are very clearly not just a mistake.

      It says

      “Thank you for subscribing. We are delighted to confirm your subscription to the The Ultimate Pack + £150 worth of Nectar points”

      The purchase confirmation screen also says

      “Nectar points: £150 worth of nectar points will be credited into your account within 25 days of renewing the second month subscription”

    T&C for me said Nectar paid 25 days after 2nd renewal so took screenshot in case have to fight my corner and they don’t arrive as stated. Father-in-law gets it and I’m paying for him as shielding so hopefully helps towards my RJ Amman biz booking I need to make in May anyway.
