American Express has launched two new benefits this morning for holders of Business Platinum and Business Gold.

We will do a longer article in a few days, but I wanted to give you a heads up now.

Got American Express Business Platinum?

You receive £150 per year of Dell statement credit. £75 is triggered between 1st January and 30th June, with the other £75 triggering between 1st July and 31st December.

Only the primary cardholder gets the benefit although spending by supplementary cardholders will trigger payment.

You can order anything on the Dell UK site (see here) as long as it is shipped to a UK address.

Got American Express Business Gold?

You receive £100 per year of Dell statement credit. £50 is triggered between 1st January and 31st June, with the other £50 triggering between 1st July and 31st December.

You can order anything on the Dell UK site (see here) as long as it is shipped to a UK address.

There is no minimum spend requirement. Only the primary cardholder gets the benefit although spending by supplementary cardholders will trigger payment.

This is a particularly generous offer for Business Gold cardholders, since the card is free in the first year.

An important note about registration

You do NOT register for this cashback deal via the usual ‘Offers’ page, because it is a permanent benefit.

You need to register on the same page where you register for the hotel status cards, the free The Times subscription etc, which is here.

More on this benefit to follow when we have had time to look into it more deeply.

Our review of Business Gold is here and you can apply here. The application page does not yet reflect the new benefit.

Our review of Business Platinium is here and you can apply here. The application page does not yet reflect the new benefit.

You can have a look at what you might want to get on the Dell website here.

  • Optimus Prime says:

“50 is triggered between 1st January and 31st June”

    I guess you mean 30th June 😉

  • Neil says:

Any idea how gold card holders register?

  • Matt says:

It says that you have to buy either over the phone or at dell.co.uk/amex – will purchases on the normal dell site work?

    • Mark says:

      yes, just tried it earlier

      • Matt says:

So you get an email, same as for the normal offers? That’s good news.

        • mark says:

you dont get an email saying you have redeemed but the statement credit comes in when your transaction moves from pening

    • Rob says:

Yes. If you look at dell.co.uk/amex there is nothing special about it. I bought off the usual site last time. Comments here say that Dell Outlet also works.

  • Nayan says:

if i have a personal Amex gold card and i want to get a business Amex platinum card, would i still qualify for the sign on bonus through the business platinum card?

  • Super Secret Stuff says:

Wish I had something July on my personal amex

  • Freddy says:

I recently took up the £100 off £750 spend at Dell on the BAPP card so something may come up again on personal cards

  • Tony says:

TBH I do not think this is a good offer. Better to just have a credit for £150 each year. Don’t know how e bay will cope with all the stuff now going to be sold …..

    • Fred says:

indeed – plus anything decent is ‘shipped’ on 01/07/21 – farcical

      • Tony says:

I think you have made my point for me.

Buy something you don’t need, ( or even understand ) get it shipped, spend money on a sales advert, sell it, post it ( plus insurance ), and get some money back.

Ok, wont take too much time, but all the extra faff is annoying.

Can not see how Dell will gain much from this. I received three calls and numerous e mails asking if I wanted to buy more stuff from them. The call center was so disappointed when I told them I just purchased it to sell on.

Better to do a % discount from Dell, and reduce the card fee.

TBH the only “benefit” of my Business AMEX is the Times Sub, that my son now reads instead of the Telegraph … ( A FT sub would have been better )

        • Peter K says:

It helps Dell because it gets people looking at their website. That is surely one of the key ideas of advertising. Then when you do actually need something electrical they are on your radar.

  • Andrew says:

Would be good to see something launched permanently for personal platinum – like in the US with the $100 annual Saks credit. And Uber instead of Addison Lee.

    • Peter K says:

Maybe uber is doing well enough that they don’t feel like they need to give away free rides?
