We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions. With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

I guess too early to say but could one quarantine in IST on the way back from DXB? Replace IST with another destination that is not in the hotel quarantine list if they are not allowing entry either.

Just thinking it would be better to spend 10 days in a country where you can walk around than in a hotel if one gets caught out with these last minute changes. So complete the 10 days there and then no quarantine here.

I need to travel a few times in the next two months for work to Asia.

  Yes. Or it’s reduced by any days you spend in that 2nd country. However, you run the risk of it going on the list in the space of 10 days …

    I did this last year — rules changed while I was away, I served most of my Spanish incurred quarantine time in Italy. Recommended.

  This makes full sense — to spend 10 or 14 days in the interim country.
  
  Similar hotel expense but you retain your freedom and can stay in some city centre hotel, rather than such properties that Bath Road or Hayes hotels are.
