British Airways has teamed up with luxury suitcase brand Globe-Trotter for a limited edition range of luggage.

The handmade carry-on suitcases celebrate the retirement of the Boeing 747 from BA’s fleet and the end of the “jumbo jet” era.

The cases are delightfully retro. Here is an official description:

“The suitcases are made from high gloss vulcanised fibreboard with a metallic sheen for a pearlescent white shimmer, which is complemented by Navy leather trim on the corners and handles. The hand-painted ‘Gold Speedbird’ insignia adorns the exterior, while the 747 fragment decorates the interior.”

Each suitcase will also include an original piece of a British Airways Boeing 747 mounted on the interior lid:

Just 150 cases will be available. The case will set you back a cool £1,935, or £2,060 if you want it initialled!

You can buy one on the Globe-Trotter website here or in-store.

Or bid for one in a charity auction

Two of these suitcases are being auctioned in aid of British Airways charity Flying Start.

These are even more exclusive because they were on BA’s very last Boeing 747 flight on the 11th Decemeber from Cardiff to St Athans on the BOAC 747 retrojet.

They have also been signed by the flight’s captain and BA’s chief training pilot Richard Allen-Williams.

You can bid for the suitcases here, starting at £2,000. Bidding ends at 23:59 on Tuesday, 19th January.

We have a set of Globe Trotters and they truly are amazing cases. My wife inherited her grandfathers. They last a few lifetimes!
If you really want 747 memorabilia then head over to Plane Industries. I have both the 747 and 777 coffee table. Absolutely stunning aviation art, a great talking piece, and a fantastic way to remember the queen of the skies

They also seem to do a 007 case thats all padded on the inside. Pretty cool for a 007 fan.
