The HfP chat thread – Friday 8th January

We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Glad it’s working. Hopefully curve can update their system ASAP so it works correctly.

However, there’s no reason they couldn’t hold your old address under GPDR as it’s part of your account history with them.

They are entitled to keep any data on you as long as it’s held securely, you can request some data to be deleted from a companies systems but there will be some core they must hold on to for legal reasons for a number of years, especially when it comes to financial services. I don’t work in financial services but I imagine name, DOB and addresses are probably the bare minimum to be able to identify you in the future.

Yes, but they still have old address and post code linked to the card. See my post in previous page.
Does Ernie send any physical statements? Hope they don’t send anything to the old address. .

      • TGLoyalty says:

Perhaps they never changed both addresses and ERNIE verify just billing not shipping, while others verify shipping?

Could explain why some people are adamant some places just won’t accept their curve ie seagulls.

I’ve never had a physical ERNIE statement but I have a habit of setting everything to electronic/paperless as soon as I sign up.

    Question about HSBC credit cards:

1- Will HSBC refund pro-rata the annual fee for WE card?
2- is there any benefit in applying for the free card and then upgrade to WE? Or should I go straight to WE?
