Happy Christmas to you and your family from all of the team here at HfP.

Long term readers will know that this Christmas Day article is generally used for people to discuss where they have flown to for a Christmas break.

This year, of course, is different. Many plans have been ruined, not just now but across the year. Whilst we are a travel site and travel is what unites us, it is important to remember that many people will be having a far worse Christmas than a lost holiday, away for their loved ones or remembering someone they lost this year.

Life cycles on, of course. Anika is just days away from the birth of her second daughter, whilst Sinead is also expecting her first child in the next few weeks. My first child was born on 27th December so I know what a heavily pregnant Chrismas is like. Rhys is off in Canterbury whilst I headed off to the Middle East for a holiday a few days before London dropped into Tier 4. When I will get back is a different question ….

I hope you enjoy a well deserved break, wherever in the world you are and whoever you are with. If you are not with anyone, you are definitely not alone in being alone.

Thank you for your support over the past crazy year. It may get worse before it gets better, but let’s focus on Easter for some sort of return to normality.

We will slowly get back into things tomorrow, with at least one article and the return of the chat thread.

With our best wishes,

Rob and the HfP team

Merry Christmas everyone, wherever in the world you may be. And thanks to Rob and the whole team for providing us with a year of joy and sweet deals.

Merry Christmas everyone and thanks to Rob and the team for another year of great content. This is my favourite blog and that includes living in US for 3 years (Ben/Lucky gives you some competition on content!!). Keep it up and here’s to one day without any debate on covid travel in the comments!

Merry Christmas to all from a sunny Yorkshire

Merry Christmas. I’ve just been looking at my Virgin Atlantic CC account. Is there an easy way of tracking how much you’ve spent towards a voucher?

  • Kipto says:

    Happy Christmas to everybody

Merry Xmas everybody. Hopefully all can stay healthy

Year started with Tanzania, Malawi, Vic Falls and South Africa. Swiss F on a deal highlighted on HfP.
Next month was Paris, three nights with IHG card vouchers. Oh how we laughed at scaredy-cat Tom Cruise fleeing Venice when a case of Covid was discovered in Italy!
Off to Denver in March to see family in BA CW on a £900 CDG-LHR-DEN ticket – found out about in HfP comments – for wife. Trip shortened as shutdowns kicked in. BA still to refund the 300 euro change fee.
Now in Canaries – but can’t pop home for a week to catch up with stuff in house since not Spanish, so won’t get back in – so may just stay a month.
Have four trips to Denver for 2021 – all rolled over from cancellations and all downgraded to CW. Who knows when they’ll happen.
Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year when it comes.
    Salut, dinero y amor!

    • AndyGWP says:

That’s a lot of Denver trips Colin! I’ve only been once (currently sat here in my thick warm Broncos socks!)

Intrigued what draws you there? Once was enough for me, but I did enjoy a few pints of Coors Original from the brewery and the Blue Moon.

Merry Christmas! (And to everyone else too!)

      • Colin MacKinnon says:

Hi Andy – clue was in third paragraph. Family!
We have a son and daughter-in-law and two grandkids in Colorado – and I still haven’t seen the youngest in the flesh!
The most recent trip was a 241 to see them in California at new year. Was remnant of a ticket from May rebooked a few times, including the 50% avois sale. The. We booked more in the sale thinking that as flights changed/ git cancelled they’d be good for the full year.

        • AndyGWP says:

Ah. That’s a shame. Sound like you’ve got your options truly lined up for the future tho. Fingers crossed and good luck! 👍🏻🙂

Does anyone remember one certain commentator here who called covid a “pussycat virus” and then fled to a “place in the sun” and disappeared completely?

      • Cat says:

He was well and truly wrong about the pussycat virus, and probably needed to cut down on the booze a bit, given the timings of the more belligerent posts, but I miss Harry. He was a great contributor and a nice chap, when he was on form.

        • The Original Nick. says:

I miss him too but he couldn’t carry on with his late night comments. It was only a few weeks back that I emailed Rob and asked about Harry. He sure knew his stuff.

          • Cat says:

Yes, I completely agree Nick, I think lockdown got to him a bit, even at his place in the sun.

        • Colin MacKinnon says:

Yes, he was wrong, the virus wasn’t a pussycat one.

It was a …… pangolin one!

  • Kevin says:

Merry Christmas to HFP team and everyone
