Happy Christmas to you and your family from all of the team here at HfP.

Long term readers will know that this Christmas Day article is generally used for people to discuss where they have flown to for a Christmas break.

This year, of course, is different. Many plans have been ruined, not just now but across the year. Whilst we are a travel site and travel is what unites us, it is important to remember that many people will be having a far worse Christmas than a lost holiday, away for their loved ones or remembering someone they lost this year.

Life cycles on, of course. Anika is just days away from the birth of her second daughter, whilst Sinead is also expecting her first child in the next few weeks. My first child was born on 27th December so I know what a heavily pregnant Chrismas is like. Rhys is off in Canterbury whilst I headed off to the Middle East for a holiday a few days before London dropped into Tier 4. When I will get back is a different question ….

I hope you enjoy a well deserved break, wherever in the world you are and whoever you are with. If you are not with anyone, you are definitely not alone in being alone.

Thank you for your support over the past crazy year. It may get worse before it gets better, but let’s focus on Easter for some sort of return to normality.

We will slowly get back into things tomorrow, with at least one article and the return of the chat thread.

With our best wishes,

Rob and the HfP team

Merry Christmas everyone from an overcast and showery Sydney, Australia. No scorcher on Bondi beach this year. That should cheer you all up a bit!

That’s a shame. Been a lovely day here in Queensland. Would rather have been with the family in Kent though.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all.

Merry Christmas to all at HfP and to all my fellow readers. 2020 has been extraordinary for the lack of travel but with the vaccines being rolled out and a trade deal done between the UK and the EU I am optimistic for a better 2021.

I will be doing a Skype call later with my mum and my brother and his family to open presents hastily delivered to his house, plans having been reorganised due to the imposition of Tier 4. Hey ho, such is life. When life gives you lemons make lemonade!

    Have a good day all!
