Happy Christmas to you and your family from all of the team here at HfP.

Long term readers will know that this Christmas Day article is generally used for people to discuss where they have flown to for a Christmas break.

This year, of course, is different. Many plans have been ruined, not just now but across the year. Whilst we are a travel site and travel is what unites us, it is important to remember that many people will be having a far worse Christmas than a lost holiday, away for their loved ones or remembering someone they lost this year.

Life cycles on, of course. Anika is just days away from the birth of her second daughter, whilst Sinead is also expecting her first child in the next few weeks. My first child was born on 27th December so I know what a heavily pregnant Chrismas is like. Rhys is off in Canterbury whilst I headed off to the Middle East for a holiday a few days before London dropped into Tier 4. When I will get back is a different question ….

I hope you enjoy a well deserved break, wherever in the world you are and whoever you are with. If you are not with anyone, you are definitely not alone in being alone.

Thank you for your support over the past crazy year. It may get worse before it gets better, but let’s focus on Easter for some sort of return to normality.

We will slowly get back into things tomorrow, with at least one article and the return of the chat thread.

With our best wishes,

Rob and the HfP team

Peace and joy to all, and everyone that you hold dear, and sincere wishes for a brighter, hope-filled New Year !

  • Paul Hickey says:

Merry Xmas. On BA105 tonight Dubai bound.

    • Alex Sm says:

So, flights to Dubai didn’t stop? But this should provide at least some certainty for Ron’s return if the flights are going

      • Rob says:

There is (virtually) no doubt that I can come back, although obviously if quarantine was reimposed on UAE arrivals or another lockdown was announced in the UAE it would clearly create issues. It’s more about if we want to – if the schools shut down then there is no real need to come back quickly. It is 90% certain that we are not coming back on the 29th as currently booked.

        • Alex Sm says:

I see… enjoy as much as you can while possible! Especially if you can cover your costs there for a while. We are so happy that we went to Sweden last week for a few days while it was still possible

        • Paul Pogba says:

Why come back? If you can work remotely and taxes are lower 🤔

          • Rob says:

We will reassess if schools are closed. I have just pushed out our flight by another 5 days to Sunday 3rd.

  • Alastair says:

Merry Christmas and looking forward to a ‘guid’ New Year.
Thank you Rob and team for being a constant during these
    difficult times.

  • TimM says:

Our Boxing Day trip to Antalya was forcibly cancelled. We have rebooked for April Fool’s Day – which also happens to cover Easter. Here’s hoping. Best wishes to all.

    • Michael Jennings says:

I was in Antalya for Christmas last year. That was nice. I did have plans to go to Cyprus this year, but that didn’t happen, alas.

  • Kathy says:

    Happy Christmas all.
Thank you Rob and the Team for everything you have done during this difficult year.

  • Paul Pogba says:

Merry Christmas all and thanks to the efforts of the HfP team in the past year!

As the tradition is to discus the years travel and most of us have done very little in 2020, would an alternative be where are we all looking forward to visiting in 2021?

    • Chrisasaurus says:

The GP for a vaccine shot is all I’ve asked for travel wise!

But seriously Merry Christmas to all, hope everyone has a lovely day and break

  • Andrew says:

Merry Christmas everyone and thanks to the whole HfP team who have been, as ever, wonderful!

  • JohnT says:

Thanks for all the articles and advice, the bickering and bantering, compliments and complaints, etc! So much like any large family Christmas gathering but sytill great to be a part of every day!
