Happy Christmas to you and your family from all of the team here at HfP.

Long term readers will know that this Christmas Day article is generally used for people to discuss where they have flown to for a Christmas break.

This year, of course, is different. Many plans have been ruined, not just now but across the year. Whilst we are a travel site and travel is what unites us, it is important to remember that many people will be having a far worse Christmas than a lost holiday, away for their loved ones or remembering someone they lost this year.

Life cycles on, of course. Anika is just days away from the birth of her second daughter, whilst Sinead is also expecting her first child in the next few weeks. My first child was born on 27th December so I know what a heavily pregnant Chrismas is like. Rhys is off in Canterbury whilst I headed off to the Middle East for a holiday a few days before London dropped into Tier 4. When I will get back is a different question ….

I hope you enjoy a well deserved break, wherever in the world you are and whoever you are with. If you are not with anyone, you are definitely not alone in being alone.

Thank you for your support over the past crazy year. It may get worse before it gets better, but let’s focus on Easter for some sort of return to normality.

We will slowly get back into things tomorrow, with at least one article and the return of the chat thread.

With our best wishes,

Rob and the HfP team

Thank you to Rob and his team for continuing to provide a place for us to come together this difficult year.

    This too, shall pass.
All the best to everyone for the New Year.

    • Cat says:

Merry Christmas @LL, have a good one! X

      • Polly says:

Cat, LL, and all, hope you had a nice Xmas day.. let’s hope for a better 2021. LL you are a real brick with all your helpful advice, cheers…and Cat with your unique travel adventures!
Looking forward to a real break away this year, we hope..KUL booked for Feb, but looking doubtful already…here’s hoping..

        • Cat says:

I may start hanging around outside vaccine clinics, in the hope somebody takes pity on me Polly – I have Indonesia booked for April, and I’m desperate to go!
We’ll both have to keep our fingers crossed…

          • Polly says:

Same here, my OH and l keep planning to just show up somewhere, and try to gatecrash, shamefully, in time for our KUL flight. Won’t do it tho, too much of a conscience!
Still, things are looking up now with a deal of sorts!, vaccine etc…here’s hoping that Indonesia trip comes off for you.

          • Rob says:

You might be OK – once they’ve opened a carton of the Pfizer vaccine it has to be used up!

          • Polly says:

Hey Cat, see `robs reply below, that’s an interesting point Rob. They just can’t afford to waste a drop of that vaccine…maybe they need stand by volunteers at the end of the day at each clinic….

Merry Christmas @LL , hope to see you and the rest of the regulars here in the new year.

  • Lammy1952 says:

Another thanks to Rob and his team for many useful insights to miles et al. I only scratch the surface of many earning opportunities, but have certainly made good use of many of the “heads up” situations discussed.
Keep up the great work and looking forward to a return to normality.

  • Andrew says:

    Merry Christmas from rural Perthshire!

I made it across the border on Monday with evidence of a PCR test in hand and a box of lateral flow tests just in case.

    Now…

Is Boxing Day the 26th or 28th this year?

  • Liz says:

Merry Christmas to Rob and the team. Thanks to all the contributors on HfP for all your help and advice this year. We have enjoyed some precious family time with our daughter after 5 months even though we only live an hour away.

  • MrHandBaggageOnly says:

Merry Christmas to the HfP team! This year has been very odd, but the HfP team (and regular contributors to the comments) have made the year slightly easier to deal with. I am also very thankful I managed a few trips here and there (although several were not possible) and used/earned some points as well!

  • Peter Cobb says:

Thank you all for your hard work over the past year(s). Have a good break and enforced furlow!

  • Susan says:

Happy Christmas (or whatever you celebrate!) to one and all. This time in 2019 I was prepping for 50th birthday present return to NZ (with J tickets thanks to HfP and the Avios partner chart). Seems like a lifetime rather than a year ago. Thank you to the team and everyone who makes HfP one of my everyday-visit sites.

    • Alex Sm says:

This seems to be a popular present for one’s 50th! A friend did a round the world trip in F in 2019 with NZ being the culmination of the whole package

  • ChrisWalk83 says:

Merry Christmas Rob and team! Good luck to the ladies my wife is due on 2nd Jan so I know what they and their partners are going through and fingers crossed for travel next year!!
