We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

    In case of interest, I haven’t yet received my IHG free night voucher from 10k IHG prem spend (July year end), I submitted a complaint at the end of October and have just been credited £150. The letter states they are unable to confirm when I will receive the voucher (but will) and cites communication issues with IHG as the cause.

      I’m in the same position but waiting since March. They don’t seem to see anything wrong with saying that you have met the criteria and will receive the voucher and not providing a timescale or considering other options. They issued me a deadlock letter in response to my complaint in June, and although I continued to follow up for the rest of the year it achieved nothing. As I was about to run out of time I have recently submitted an ombudsman claim on the issue.

      I’ve been waiting since May for my IHG free night voucher from the 10k IHG prem spend and have just submitted a complaint so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a similar response to the one you got!

    I am looking to book the staybridge suites at heathrow in May next year. The suite with 15 days parking is £129 and with 8 days £189! Does anyone knows what happens if I book the 15 days option but return early? Is the car parked on site?

      Unless someone can add some first hand experience, I would call the hotel and confirm if the 15 day parking is on site with you keeping your keys. They have plenty of on site spaces, so it may well be. But you are right to be wary about the price, in case the 8 day option you keep your keys and the 15 day option is cheaper because your car is being chucked end to end in a lot off site.

      The exact days you use never matters, its very rare that anyone ever goes away for the exact same number of days as the rate states!

    The Etihad £250 Amex offer, if I opt for a voucher, it says it has to be used by October 2021 but then in the Terms and Conditions it doesn’t mention the date. They will add up to $400 on top but seems quite risky of travel has to be completed by that date. Anyone else sought clarification? Also, has anyone opted for the voucher? How quick was it and is the credit added on top easily?
