British Airways to return to Heathrow Terminal 3 in April

British Airways appears to be quietly re-instating flights to Heathrow Terminal 3. The changes appear on ba.com from the end of March, which is when the IATA summer schedule begins.

Here is a Krakow flight for late March. As you can see, ba.com vary clearly shows it will be departing from Terminal 3:

Krakow T3 Heathrow

This doesn’t appear to be a leftover from pre-pandemic scheduling, either. In 2019 we compiled a DIY list of Terminal 3 routes and there is little, if any, overlap. Krakow has always been a Terminal 5 route.

There is a belief that American Airlines will remain in Terminal 5, with covid simply bringing forward an existing plan to put all US flights under the same Norman Foster-designed roof. This would require BA to move some flights to Terminal 3 sooner than justified purely by its own flying schedule.

Heathrow confirmed this week that it will keep Terminal 4 closed until the end of 2021. This is hardly surprising given how few daily flights it was handling even before coronavirus.
