British Airways to restart flights to Dhaka after 12 years

Local media reports suggest that British Airways is looking to relaunch a service to Dhaka, in Bangladesh, soon.

British Airways has flown to Dhaka before, and last operated a scheduled service to the city in 2009.

With transatlantic traffic stalled, BA is hoping to make better use of its aircraft to other destinations. In September, it announced it would be returning to Lahore and increasing the frequency of its Islamabad flights.

By launching Dhaka it is betting that the ‘visiting friends and relatives’ market picks up faster than its core US business, which remains closed to passengers who have been in the UK and Europe recently.

We only used Now TV for F1. Always offering a good deal when the month subscription ran out

At least the season is now over

I have traveled on the new Stena Estrid a few times already – it has been sailing since July and, each time I traveled, I was one of only a handful of passengers on each of the sailings.

I didn’t get to try the lounge but overall Stena have done an excellent job. It feels fresh and modern. I will be traveling on it again later this month, so it will be interesting to see if it is busy.

I’ve travelled on the Edda (and I’m booked again for next year) and used the Lounge on the Dublin-Holyhead ferry – both excellent experiences.

The new ferries are excellent (and certainly put their England-France equivalents to shame) and hope they are very successful next year.

When travelling overnight on the Belfast-Liverpool ferry be aware that the passenger decks are not well sound-proofed from the car decks and there were a lot of car alarms going off. Other than that – a great experience and definately worthy of a review on HfP!

I opened my Tesco app today and saw a bunch of coupons for bonus ClubCard points for buying different things (usually things I’ve bought in the past too) and one for DoublePoints!

Seems like they’re copying the targeted Nectar approach

    • James says:

They’ve done this for years, especially in the lead up to Christmas.

  • Concerto says:

    Meliá offer already gone

  • Ashish says:

Any good deals to book Meliá points @ the moment?

    • Rob says:

Clearly depends where you are going.

I was looking at Dubai this morning as I need 1 night. The new Zaha Hadid designed hotel, a truly astonishing thing, is £220 for cash or 20k points (so around £75 if I buy a voucher). These are the sort of deals you can get if you are lucky.

  • fivebobbill says:

Yeah Robert, thanks for this. Have since gotten an email from Curve outlining those terms.

  • ant says:

Just purchased the Melia points from Amazon Germany – similar price

  • Optimus Prime says:

Any idea whether there will be a HSBC Premier World Elite transfer bonus this December or soon?
