How our story on BA selling its First Class crockery hit NBC News in the US and Chinese TV!

It’s been a slightly bizarre week here at Head for Points. When we found out last weekend that British Airways was going to be selling off its First Class crockery, we knew it would be of interest to the mainstream media and we sent out a couple of quotes.

William Edwards crockery British Airways First class

Little did we know how it would take off. Last Monday was our biggest day ever for page views by a substantial margin.

We’ve been quoted in many newspaper stories including BBC News (where it was the most read story on Monday), The Telegraph, The Guardian and the Daily Mail. We’ve done a couple of radio interviews too.

I never expected that Rhys would end up, admittedly briefly, on NBC’s ‘Today’ breakfast show in the United States, however!

As its a quiet Sunday, I thought you might like to see the clip. It you are reading this via email, you need to visit the NBC website here.

We also did English-language Chinese TV!

Here is the clip, which you can also find on our (slightly neglected) YouTube channel here.

Enjoy.

Awesome job Rhys, you’ve done a lot in a short time 👍🏻

    • Rhys says:

Not that short – 18 months now!

      • Peter K says:

Reminds me of when I had not long started in my job. In 10yrs you’ll realise that 18 months *is* pretty short. But you have just done a lot in that space of time 🙂

  • Hugh says:

    “Is this an investment?”
I remember a similar question asked in the stamp collectors’ club at school. The answer, from a vastly experienced philatelist was a wise and definite ‘no.’ Have fun, pursue your interests but investment? No way!

  • Naveen says:

    Good stuff.

You need to work on your posture Rhys, it’s terrible.

    • BrianW says:

Possibly the most lame and ill-thought out comment I’ve read on HFP in the last 4 years 😂. @Naveen, have a word with yourself in a quiet room and try and improve your common sense skills. You need to do better than this, lets face it. “Your posture is terrible” 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

  • Jerry says:

Well done all at HFP, you deserve the global attention for this. Its always a great buzz when a story takes off and really keeps you going when times are a bit heavy going. It’s proof for all your partners HFP exposure matters. Loved the NBC clip, it was just like Brass Eye.

  • Polly says:

Really impressive. Doesn’t seem that long ago when we were encouraging to take the job, after you did that internship. Wow, time flies…

  • Oxonboy says:

That was a was a relatively long clip, well done Rhys!

  • Vin says:

You have a quiet confidence Rhys and come across as very knowledgeable – great interviews !
