When can I travel?

Whenever you want, as long as reward seats are available. Bookings are available as far out as Virgin Atlantic allows booking, which is currently 20th October 2021.

Can I cancel these tickets as usual?

Yes, subject to the usual cancellation fee. You should note that if you need to change the date of your flight, it will reprice at the full Points cost and you would need to pay extra.

Can this be combined with Virgin credit card vouchers?

Yes. You can use your Virgin Atlantic Mastercard vouchers, explained in our credit card review here, to upgrade redemptions booked under this offer or as a 2-for-1, effectively netting you two tickets for 25% of the usual rate!

  • BSI1978 says:

Been a while since I have flown VS, do all UC fares from Heathrow include access to the Clubhouse or are there restrictions? £1k to LV seems very tempting such I am leaning towards cancelling the existing BA booking….

  • Jim says:

This prompts a question: I’m close to hitting spend on the Virgin Rewards+ CC for the 2-4-1 voucher… If i make a purchase to push me over the limit today, would that apply instantly?
Or do you know if there’s a delay until I get this (and if so how long it will be?) Thanks!!

    • dezbez says:

Jim: can’t remember precisely but no more than a few days, definitely less than a week. It wasn’t instant though.

    • rachael says:

you need to call virgin and ask for it to go into your account. Pain during the sale

  • James says:

Would anyone be able to suggest of the top of their head what the best option flying long haul from the UK for two people is? For instance Virgins a350 seat looks nice but there doesn’t seem an option for any together, their 787 seems to offer that but apparently isn’t as comfortable, is confusing lol

    • Bryan says:

Are you refering to upper class? If so the A350 offers seats together in the middle.

  • Thomas O'Brien says:

Looking to book the 350 to JNB in Premium and then use voucher to upgrade to Upper and it says infant is 5000 each way but cant see anything about additional taxes. Anyone know if you have to pay any?

  • Reney says:

Some help pls. So I have 100k points, 2 vouchers and I am a red level. I want to buy 2 return ticket UC to HKG from LHR. For May the return points for premium seems to be 22400, for UC 39900. I feel like I would be wasting the vouchers using them. But pretty sure one might expire before I get around to using them if I don’t use it now.

If I look in late September the grid comes up as there are returns flights for 36k, in practice, I can’t find any VS flights on the return leg they seem to have only KLM business class back. What am I doing wrong? Or has September/October all sold out?

    • Tom says:

There doesn’t seem to be any availability in October at all. A few dates outbound in September. I booked this route for two for end of June today. 2 vouchers, 60k points and £1100 in taxes. Compared to cash price today of £3000. Not bad for something that 3 or 4 months ago I had written off.

  • Steve says:

Have booked CPT for £998 each for Easter! very happy and looking forward to a change from BA. Hope The Clubhouse will have re-opened by then and the vaccinations are all done.

    • pigeon says:

Don’t want to burst your bubble but VS has been cancelling CPT services left, right and centre and are refusing to re-book until flights resume, even for passengers without a permanent UK address. If you’re booking non-refundable hotels be aware you might be buying a last-minute BA ticket in economy (for more than £999) to salvage your trip!

    • Genghis says:

I had a little look at these: the return flight from CPT at 8am – urgh. What a waste.

      • pigeon says:

They’ve retimed some flights from 8.00 to 9.05. My guess is the 9.05 flights are currently slated to run, whereas the 8.00 flights have not been schedule-changed and are therefore likely to be canned.

  • Dubious says:

Was looking at this considering a HKG-LHR booking, but got distracted and ended up buy some new crockery instead!

  • TripRep says:

Only got Red status, but do have a voucher to use, so I’d save 50% on the extra pax points, so I found a potential sweet spot…

    Upper Class Return, LHR-MCO, £665 + 39,300 miles each (Changable/Cancellable for £30 fee)

Cash price for a Upper Class rtn is £3400+ each (Flexible/changeable ticket)

Pretty decent if you ask me, anyone beat that for value?
