Before you book, check the cash prices. Virgin Atlantic has also launched an impressive cash sale – details below.

When can I travel?

Whenever you want, as long as reward seats are available. Bookings are available as far out as Virgin Atlantic allows booking, which is currently 20th October 2021.

Can I cancel these tickets as usual?

Yes, subject to the usual cancellation fee. You should note that if you need to change the date of your flight, it will reprice at the full Points cost and you would need to pay extra.

Can this be combined with Virgin credit card vouchers?

Yes. You can use your Virgin Atlantic Mastercard vouchers, explained in our credit card review here, to upgrade redemptions booked under this offer or as a 2-for-1, effectively netting you two tickets for 25% of the usual rate!

  • Gary Colclough says:

Can anyone advise on this please

Tried to book and it said payment hadn’t been successful

the miles have gone from the account but no flight showing and no email

Payment info shows as pending twice and my online banking

This was just the outbound flights and I need to know what to do with returns, no hope of getting through on phone

    • Gary Colclough says:

I give up, the return booking messed up tp

      • Mo says:

Best bet is to call early tomorrow, apparently people got through yesterday in a matter of minutes after calling at 7am

  • JCB says:

Followed the advice and called at 7am, still on hold 50 mins later. No response to Whatsapp yesterday, in the meanwhile some availability has gone. Perhaps just not meant to happen.
I think I have to book on phone as I want to use reward card upgrade vouchers. If I just booked PE now with miles, I run the risk of no UC mileage seats being available when I finally speak to someone. Also tricky as I want to fly into SEA and out of SFO (from LHR).

    • JCB says:

Got through after just over an hour and all booked in another 20 minutes. No issue on discounted miles used with reward vouchers.

    • David says:

Very similar experience. They need to get these vouchers usable online. At present they have issued about £4k of sales spend from me (I think twice on the phone for 120 mins and gave up! and no whatsapp response) They need a strategy for handling inbound reservation requests better as BA is much better equiped for it.

  • Tony Alam says:

I just booked to go mco next September they didn’t let me use my cc premium economy upgrade voucher instead I paid to p.e from economy this can’t be right they said its not valid on this sale any advice

    • Magic Mike says:

Depends what ticket type (cash, miles) and what sort of voucher it is.

Credit card upgrade or 2 for 1 vouchers used on redemption (points) tickets can be used, its in the terms and conditions on the Black Friday web page even with a worked example. In this case, phone back.

Other sorts of vouchers may not be permitted.

      • Tony Alam says:

Cheers for the info @magic mike so basically I have 2 offers from virgin atlantic credit card one from my wife and from my account both virgin atlantic plus cards I purchased two eco from lon to mco for £513 plus 24800 points then I rang up to use both mine and wife voucher as an upgrade to premium economy and pay the tax they said no so can I ring back and use it as a 241 voucher instead ?thank you

        • Magic Mike says:

Tony – a couple of things to check…
1: there needs to be reward availability in premium economy on the flights you are trying to upgrade. (check on the website before sitting in the phone queue)
2: if you have one voucher, and your wife has one voucher (presumably in her own Flying Club account) you may need to buy one ticket using your miles, and your wifes ticket using her account and her miles. Not sure how flexible Virgin are on this. From what you wrote, it sounds like you made a single booking with the miles for both tickets coming out of one account.

Apart from these two points above – yes, you should be able to use 2 x credit card vouchers to upgrade 2 economy points seats to premium economy. You will have to hold for a long time, try calling early in the morning. If they refuse again quote the Black Friday t’s and c’s which says “Credit Card Vouchers are combinable with this offer”.

          • Tony Alam says:

Wow that’s unbelievable I did exactly that Mike rang and waited 90 mins told them I wanted to use my vouchers for a P.E upgrade vouchers and there was availability at the time the last two infact which I paid with points and cash from one account. I will ring them again tomorrow and chase this up and refer to terms and condition of black Friday, he definitely told me porkies how I can only use it on a standard price ticket and not sale !!!once again thank you for your advice

  • Magic Mike says:

Called 8am this morning and had to hold for >90 mins. Accepted my credit card vouchers for upgrades without question. 27k miles + fees for a return in Upper Class to the West Coast with full flexibility, bargain. Now lets see if Biden opens up the US…

  • Mco says:

Cause it’s a bittersweet symphony this life
Trying to make ends meet, you’re a slave to the money then you die.
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down…………

Coming up to 2hrs on hold this morning and know the song of hand now.

  • Tony Alam says:

Rang this morning got thru after 1hr used companion voucher so got half my points back for ,points was more important to me so now I can use it book another flight thanks to Mike for the help cheers
