We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions. With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Bizarre. Picked up 10 amazon gift cards at a Morrison’s Daily, only to find out that they don’t accept Amex! Do the individual stores have control over payment methods?

  Morrisons Daily are a franchise so I guess up to the franchisee to control payment methods. Standard stores will all be fine.

Apparently Chase (JPM) has received regulatory approvals to offer financial services in UK, expected early next year.
Some competition for Amex would be welcome.

  Hmmm, not sure if that will really make much of a difference for Amex. EU has capped interchange fees so there income will be limited unless they create their own payment method

    The UK didn’t intend for Amex to be included like this so there is every chance they will be able to over turn in 2021. I doubt that’ll change anything for the co brand bonvoy card though.

  You dont need to wait for the amazon cards to come back in stock, you can buy the 1000 pts for like 5 euros directly on the melia site which should reset the 12 month timer.
