British Airways to re-open Galleries Club North lounge in Terminal 5 from Monday

British Airways has announced via its website that the Galleries Club North lounge will reopen on Monday.

It is ironic that, whilst the current lockdown regulations specifically talk about airport lounges and the fact that they can remain open, few have chosen to do so. I believe that the Lufthansa lounge in Heathrow Terminal 2 is open and serving food and drink.

British Airways lounge to reopen

The lounge page of ba.com says:

“We have listened to your feedback and we’re happy to announce that from Monday, 16 November, we will be re-opening our Galleries North Club lounge as a customer waiting area with a reduced selection of grab and go items.”

Whether ‘grab and go’ means that you will not be allowed to eat the food in the lounge – and must take it outside onto the concourse – is not clear.

The linked FAQ says:

“During the UK national restriction period, you’ll still be able to enjoy your time in our lounge. So help yourself to our grab and go items while you’re there and sit back and relax.”

The implication here is that you are meant to take the items away with you, but BA doesn’t really mind if you don’t.

Opening hours will be from 5am to 10pm.

    Damn, just missed it!

T5 was pretty quiet this morning, only the World of Whiskeys, and Pret were open.

  • Roger says:

Travelling this Sunday and will miss the lounge!

Re: T2 Lufty lounge. Yes, it’s open. Used it last Monday.

The food was served from what appears to be a street vendor stall – though that may always have been the case, it was my first time in the lounge after all.

There were two hot options (veg, non-veg?) and a number of smaller plates. The pasta was good!

  • Mark Boggis says:

This article is contradictory one minute says lounge open , then says grab and go only ? then it says sit back and relax ?

    • Rob says:

We have now seen the menu. It isn’t ‘grab and go’ outside, it is ‘grab and go’ to your lounge seat, with your brown bag sandwich.
