British Airways has been dominating headlines this week, first with the news that CEO Alex Cruz would be stepping down. Sean Doyle, who has been in charge of Aer Lingus the past two years but was at BA before that, will take over.
BA then hit the headlines again after it was fined £20m for the 2018 data breach, where it was found to be illegally handling private data.
We broke the third big story of the week with the announcement that Avios and Tesco Clubcard would be breaking up, leaving British Airways without a supermarket partner unless it announces a replacement. We think it will ….

This week, most Amex Platinum cardholders got £400 free from Amex to spend at selected Marriott hotels!
British Airways
British Airways has extended some 2-4-1 companion vouchers by six months AGAIN – check your account now.
Plus, another update to BA’s ‘Book with Confidence’ policy.

Hotels
A number of Marriott Bonvoy deals were launched this week including:
- Off peak pricing for ALL hotels in October and November
- A free Marriott night with a 3-night home rental (this is particularly generous if you book a very cheap home)
- 30% off at Marriott Bonvoy boutiques
- The Marriott Amex now earns up to 10 points per £1
- Get a 50% bonus when buying Marriott Bonvoy points
Marriott Bonvoy has also extended its 2,500 bonus points per stay offer into November, and you can nab yourself a £95 deal at Marriott’s luxury boutique The Dixon hotel in London.

Miscellaneous
Virgin Atlantic announced it will be launching direct flights from Manchester to Delhi and Mumbai.
Double dip if you collect Flying Blue miles and stay in Accor hotels.
Gatwick will introduce £5 charge to drop off passengers from 2021.
The Virgin/Delta terminal at New York JFK gets a new Amex Centurion Lounge.
