Qatar Airways has launched a two day flash sale, running today and Friday. It could be for you if you want to get something in the diary to look forward to, post covid.
Whilst most Qatar Airways flyers from the UK choose to credit their flights to British Airways Executive Club to earn Avios and tier points, you will receive double miles in Qatar Privilege Club if you book during this offer and choose to credit your flights to their programme instead.
You will also earn 2,000 Qatar Privilege Club miles as a sign-up bonus if you choose to join today or tomorrow.
Full details of the sale fares are on the Qatar Airways website here.
Here are some headline fares I picked at random from London (but don’t forget Manchester and Edinburgh):
Economy
- Karachi £451
- Zanzibar £467
- Muscat £445
- Cape Town £538
Business
- Cape Town £2,459
- Singapore £2,439
- Phuket £2,179
- Bangkok £2,229
- Sydney £3,489
- Bali £2,609
- Muscat £2,046
Manchester to Tokyo for £2,169 is one of the most interesting regional deals I spotted.

52 weekly flights from across the UK
With the recent resumption of flights from London Gatwick at the end of August, Qatar Airways remains the biggest international airline flying into the UK.
From mid October there will be 52 UK departures per week, comprising:
- Edinburgh (three weekly flights)
- London Gatwick (four weekly flights)
- London Heathrow (four daily flights)
- Manchester (17 weekly flights)
You are covered by the Travel with Confidence policy
Qatar Airways has recently extended its ‘Travel with Confidence’ policy. The new policy applies to new bookings made by 31st December 2020.
This article explains Qatar’s original ‘Travel with Confidence’ policy. The changes now mean that:
- Date changes are free for travel up to 31st December 2021. This applies whether your flight is cancelled or still operating.
- Destination changes are free if your original booking is cancelled, for travel up to 31st December 2021.
- You can choose to swap your ticket value for Qmiles if you wish to cancel. You will now receive 80 Qmiles per $1 spent (previously 100 per $1).
- You can, on request, have the validity of your ticket extended up to two years from the date you originally booked
- The option to cash in your ticket for a Qatar Airways voucher, topped up by an extra 10% of the base fare and valid for two years, remains
If you are not a Qatar Privilege Club member, you can only change the destination within the same country or to another country within 500 miles.
You can find full details of the flash sale on the Qatar Airways website here.
