Today, as you have probably heard as the well-oiled British Airways PR machine is operating at full effectiveness, the final two British Airways Boeing 747 aircraft left Heathrow for the last time.

We will have some photographs tomorrow. Media were not invited to the event, except for TV crews from the BBC and Sky, so we are reliant on BA’s feed. I do have this shot from my friend in Fulham as one went over his house though 🙂

British Airways is selling 747 Club World seats for £999 return

To commemorate the event, British Airways is making 747 return Club World seats available for £999 each.

The airline is not being hugely helpful as to where you find them. The easiest way is probably to use the Low Fare Finder tool on the British Airways website here.

We know that participating destinations are:

“Atlanta, Austin, Nashville, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Charleston, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, Ney York, Orlando, Portland, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco, San Jose (California), Tampa, Washington, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City, Cancun, Islamabad, Lahore, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Dubai, Muscat, Tel Aviv, Cape Town, Mauritius, Male, Seychelles”

£999 British Airways Club World fares — The Monarch Lounge on an early BOAC Boeing 747

Minimum stays are required. You won’t see the £999 fares unless you meet the following criteria:

“a. Saturday night stay is required for travel in Club World from London to Atlanta, Austin, Nashville, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Charleston, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, Ney York, Orlando, Portland, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Seattle, San Fransisco, San Jose (California), Tampa, Washington, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City, Cancun, Islamabad, Lahore, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Cape Town, Mauritius, Male, Seychelles.
b. 3 night minimum stay is required for Dubai, Muscat, Tel Aviv”

In terms of dates:

“selected outbound travel dates between 01 November 2020 and 31 March 2021. All travel must be complete by 31 March 2021.”

We only received this information from British Airways a few minutes ago (10.53am) so all of the seats should still be there.

Used my companion voucher to get 2x club world seats to Male in mid-November.
Can see that these are now available for £991 per head. That’s an incredible price.
Is it worth the aggravation of cancelling and rebooking and therefore keeping my companion voucher and Avios??!!

  depends, avios booking is much more flexible, but cash booking comes with points/miles. You do have the FTV if you cancel, but thats not as good as being able to cancel for £35 imho. FYI i could booked 3 x tix @991 each to MLE, and its on the new 777 seats! result

Was just about to cancel and rebook a 241 to San Diego to save Avios.
Now a sub 1k cash booking beckons, book with confidence, UUA to F, 241 saved until 2021 and earning Avios too…..

Don’t forget you can add car hire or a night in a hotel to make it a BA holiday. Then you just pay deposit until three weeks before. You can always take the deposit as a voucher under Book with Confidence.

    There are cancellation fees of (I recall) 65% up to 72 hours. Obviously if you don’t pay the balance then you’ll just forfeit deposit.

  Just retried that for SEA and as a holiday w one night, it priced up 1k more than without customised option. The former won’t let me pay deposit only, wants full payment, so need to phone in…

These bargains are a mirage. Its very unlikely that anyone will be able to fly to the US until mid 2021. If Trump loses he will keep the embargo up until inauguration day, if he wins he is likely to continue for some time. If Biden wins that may change but not immediately.
Additionally, more countries are putting UK on their own lists as I high risk Covid country.

    It’s a shame the US won’t be open before the cut off date for these flights at the end of March – JFK is £973 return in club (even cheaper than the £999 advertised) and availability in First is always good so can upgrade and combine with the 50% Avios. Of course I don’t feel like giving BA an interest free loan, so won’t be bothering.
