British Airways took delivery of the first of four new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft yesterday.

It touched down at Heathrow in the morning after a flight from the Boeing factory in Everett.

British Airways First Suite doors

The new aircraft will feature an improved – but not radically different – First Suite seat. For the first time, First Class seats will have a door. This puts the First Class cabin on a par with Business Class, as these aircraft are arriving with the new Club Suite seat as standard.

We don’t have any photographs of the new First Suite – the best we have is this illustration from the crew manual. Hopefully we can get our hands on some over the next few days.

Your chances of flying the new seat are not great. There is no news on it being retrofitted to older aircraft and a totally new First Class seat is believed to be planned for the 777X deliveries due from 2022.

Amex contacts the person in the business responsible for the Amex a/c, in my experience (which was, admittedly, 2013). If that person does not bother to tell other members of staff…

    • RussellH says:

Forgot to mention that the business has (had?) to agree to joining Shop Small. I did not, as I was negotiating to sell up at the time.

      • cinereus says:

Why wouldn’t you under those circumstances?

        • RussellH says:

Because I was not selling anything! I was a tour operator without a programme. If I had not been able to sell up I would have closed down anyway.

  • Opus says:

The renaming ERs will be fitted with the first suite. The first to receive this will be G-STBD at the start of next year

  • Lee says:

Have they said what route the new 777 we be deployed on ?

    • Nick says:

JFK and MLE are the first two.

      • Tocsin says:

I did a speculative booking last week in the sale, and BA112 JFK-LHR on 23 Jul is showing a B777-300ER with 8F and Club Suite. (Not getting my hopes up yet for either the holiday or the aircraft type!)

Anyone else not got the CoOp deal in their Amex Offers? I’ve only got the Will Writing one

    • Rob says:

I unexpectedly walked past a Co-Op today, but didn’t have the right Amex on me.
