American Express has launched a new cashback deal with Tesco.

You need to check the ‘offers’ section of all of your online statement pages to see if you are targetted. If you are, I recommend clicking ‘save to card’ immediately as this will hit its registration cap of 20,000 cards very quickly. I had it on my Platinum card.

Get £5 Tesco cashback from American Express when you spend £40

Once registered, you will receive £5 cashback when you spend £40 at Tesco before 30th October.

Even if you normally shop elsewhere, you could quickly pop in and grab a giftcard for use at another retailer you do use.

Remember that Tesco Clubcard points convert to Avios at the rate of 1 Clubcard point (= £1 spent) to 2.4 Avios or 2.5 Virgin Flying Club miles. Find out more at ba.com here and virginatlantic.com here.

Amex has also launched some additional hotel cashback deals. Most are quite niche, such as 10% back at Apex Hotels.

In terms of value, the best one is £50 cashback on £180 spend at NH Hotels.

It is valid at participating hotels (click here) across Europe, including the NH and nhow hotels in London.

    Tesco not on mine 😢

  • BJ says:

Somebody now routinely posts amex offers on the heat and cold site soon after they are released. The better ones also appear on the Lewis site. Thus, more important than ever to register as soon as you see or hear about them on HfP as I think people still post them here quicker.

  • Nick says:

Although not sure if mentioned here already, I’ve also received Spend £350 or more, get £100 back @ Leading Hotels of the World

  • Ian says:

not any of my 6 cards 🙁

  • Andrew says:

No Tesco on my platinum card. Amex really need to stop offering all the good offers to gold and give platinum members something decent for our £600.

    • QwertyKnowsBest says:

Platinum and have this offer and get most offers l read about.

    • BSI1978 says:

Isn’t just as likely/possible that if you typically favour Tesco then you won’t get the offer?

Usually find this happens with the grocery retailers

  • Mike says:

    Tesco not on my BAPP

    • MikeL says:

Not on our 3 cards – gold, blue (Just downgraded) and premium . We shop regularly at Tesco so clearly we’re not being targeted for that very reason. Typical Amex 🙄. My premium card has been going for about 10 years and we now have 4 companion vouchers expiring from next March through to 2023.. Time for a CC rethink. I just don’t see us travelling anytime soon, especially westbound.

  • Andy S says:

Tesco on my plat. To qualify does the card have to be used directly at the till, or will it still trigger via Pay+

  • Graeme says:

Got Tesco on my BAPP that I’ve had for about three weeks, but not on my partner’s that’s had twice-weekly Tesco shops on for 18 months.

    • Anna says:

It’s on none of our cards and I haven’t shopped at Tesco for months apart from one trip to buy B & Q vouchers!
