The HfP chat thread – Friday 4th September

We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HfP shows the last page of comments under the article.  If you want to see the first page of comments and read them all from beginning to end in order, click here: https://hfp2022.headforpoints.blog/2020/09/04/the-hfp-chat-thread-friday-4th-september/comment-page-1.  The page will refresh with this article but the comments will now show the first page and not the last page.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Does anyone know how to contact curve about a refund, used curve cash from a previous refund on a transaction which got declined but showed up on curve and money taken, the retailer is saying contact curve.

Also is there anyway of withdrawing curve cash through atm without fees.

    Thanks

I have a similar problem where I paid Virgin card using IHG via Curve. It appears on IHG twice on consecutive days taking me over my limit. Curve say the first one was declined but Creation say nay.

On the app you need to click on the ‘account’ button at the bottom then you scroll down to the bottom of the page and click ‘report a problem.’ I have found them to be quite efficient at answering any queries

Query about BA Holidays booking please

I can book INV-SFO-LHR trip (actual sequence INV-LHR-JFK-SFO-JFK-LHR with some flights on AA) with a one night hotel (though the total trip is 5/6 nights I just want a throw away hotel to be able to just pay a deposit now) on line but want to use a e voucher hence the need to phone.

Will a BA phone rep be able to book this for me without it raising any questions on either the routing or the need for only 1 nights hotel?

    • AJA says:

I think its possible – there’s no reason why they would expect you to book more than 1 night. You could be using reward points directly with the hotels and be short of the required points to do all the nights hence needing one night elsewhere. Phone BA Holidays and ask. They can only say no (I doubt they will).

Any issues logging into Barclaycard? Mine is just spinning once I am logged in and not showing any info.

Has anyone got any hints for connecting Amex Gold to Nectar please?

    • FFoxSake says:

Had this before – turned out the Nectar was still linked to a previous closed Gold card and wouldn’t switch without manual intervention. Only took a couple of minutes but had to phone them.

  • HM says:

Does anyone know if HSBC UK have any offers for switching to Premier at the moment? £175 CASS offer is suspended due to COVID (?!) and I can’t find any references to a UK referral programme. Cheers, HM.

  • A270 says:

Has anyone else been having issues using Curve to pay Amex. Doing small amount per day like £150/200, it asked to be authenticated and gets okayed from Curve’s side but on Amex website it says there was a problem.

  • A270 says:

    HSBC Premier
