The HfP chat thread – Wednesday 2nd September

We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions. With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HfP shows the last page of comments under the article. Looks like i can take 100% bonus avios on my cancelled reward flight from Inverness to LAX. 125K + 125K bonus for the cost of BA keeping my £470 paid in taxes. That is worth it?

  Definitely if you are confident of using those avios in the future and you don’t need the cash now. You are buying avios at under 0.4p each. It would still be a good deal even if there were to be a 50% avios devaluation and that’s being ultra conservative.

        I have it in writing from BA that they are offering 1 Avios for every 0.8p!

  Defo. Agreed with BJ. Assuming massive devaluation. I think it is still worth it — considering the rate you are getting from 75% bonus last time BA selling avios was ~0.9p per avios.

Does anyone use etoro? I really like the idea but their lack of customer service and even dishonesty makes me want to avoid. I thought I also saw a bit of a Curve opportunity – would suggest anyone thinking the same is very careful or avoids it! That was at my own risk I suppose though!
