The new HFP chat thread – Thursday 20th August

We have decided to run this new daily chat thread on Head for Points.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions. It is unlikely that the news flow will be so big over the next few weeks that we will need many ‘Bits’ articles, however.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are stuck at home self-isolating, we want the HFP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as its keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HFP shows the last page of comments under the article. Traveling from Heathrow T5 for 5 nights. Since we are a family of 4 would like to park own car rather than take taxis. We like 25 minutes from the airport so don’t want an overnight hotel. Any parking deals at T5 hotels or other providers?

have no idea where you live obviously, but if in Zipcar zone in London you can drive a Zipcar flex to T5 and leave in the dedicated parking for a £5 supplement. I always do this now when going to/from Heathrow

Data Point – Just got off the phone to BA on 0800727800, took about 30 mins to get through, no options selected, and 10 mins to cancel my 241 Rio flight and Santiago return which was also using the same 241.

It turns out Lloyds (from my Avios credit card) created a ‘ghost’ BA Exec Club account for me.

Any idea who I contact to get it merged with my current BA Exec Club account, please? I’m guessing it’s possible to do that.

I have hardly any Avios in this new account but do have a Lloyd upgrade voucher I need to use by next month.
