The new HFP chat thread – Tuesday 21st July

We have decided to run this new daily chat thread on Head for Points.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the defacto repository for random comments and questions. It is unlikely that the news flow will be so big over the next few weeks that we will need many ‘Bits’ articles, however.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are stuck at home self-isolating, we want the HFP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as its keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HFP shows the last page of comments under the article.       Yes it can. book the flights, then at the end, “add hotel to booking”…. did this last week to dubai, prem out, econ back.

        Trust me, I’ve looked at every permutation possible to avoid calling.
        I finally got through at 7:58pm and agent ran into problems 5 minutes after lines closed….
        So agreed I would book Club Return basis online and call back today to request the relevant upgrade. Was told that if done with 24hrs, there wouldn’t be any change fees other that upgrade cost difference.

  Per se, unlikely. You can travel already – although it might not be the best use of the voucher.

This is regarding Marriott elite status published HFP few days ago.
Currently my account (gold) shown to have 23 nights. Am I right that if apply Marriott Amex by end of the year will give a total 38 nights + pushing 12 nights stay = 50 nights. This will allow me to get a platinum elite status from Jan 2021 till Dec 2021 or till Dec 2022?

  You’ll get platinum as soon as you hit 50 nights this year (have to do it before Dec 31st) and it will last until Feb 2022

  Note that it may 60 days to get the 15 nights added so don’t apply too late.
