How to earn 400 Avios in Spain with the Cabify rideshare app

If you’re heading to Spain this Summer it is worth remembering that you can earn Avios with the Cabify ride-hailing app.

You will get a 400 Avios bonus with your first ride.

Cabify was founded in Spain but has since expanded internationally – you can now use the app in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Uruguay.

Avios can only be earned in Spain, Mexico, Chile and Brazil.  Oddly, if you choose to credit Avios to Vueling Club, you can only earn in Spain.

Earn Avios with Cabify

In Spain, you can currently use it in:

  • A Coruna
  • Alicante
  • Barcelona
  • Madrid
  • Malaga
  • Marbella
  • Murcia
  • Santander
  • Seville
  • Valencia
  • Zaragoza

The app can be downloaded from the Apple and Google stores.  I have used it a couple of times in Barcelona in recent years and the Avios have always posted OK.

Which Avios programmes work with Cabify?

The Cabify app lets you earn Avios in either Iberia Plus or British Airways Executive Club.  Vueling Club is also an option but only for rides in Spain.

In reality, it doesn’t matter which scheme you use as you can move your Avios around via ‘Combine My Avios’.

How many Avios do you earn with Cabify?

You will earn 400 Avios for your first trip and 1 Avios per km after that.

The ‘first ride’ bonus will only be applied if you take a ‘Lite’ or ‘Executive’ vehicle.

Full details can be found on the Cabify website here.  A Q&A, in English, is here which explains how the 400 Avios bonus works.

Coronavirus in Scotland: Quarantine rules lifted for travel to Spain https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-53476508

    • Colin says:

Even with the quarantine, there was nothing stopping people from Scotland going to Spain.

      • Sam says:

Exactly right. HfP have made a few very basic mistakes about this issue already. Even without the rule change yesterday plenty of people living in Scotland have been flying to airports in Spain out of airports in Scotland. And the use of ‘Scottish’ not entirely helpful with either. ‘People living in Scotland’ much more appropriate.

Thought you would have been on the ball with this Rob. Spanish flood dates are now open for Scottish tourists.

    • Andrew says:

Other than the fact that the rules have already changed, “Scottish” or “Scots” is about where you are born. Not your current residency.

Can’t really blame you though. The mainstream media and Holyrood are tripping over the language that they use. Hence my Geordie relatives in Scotland heading off to Spain as soon as the flights started, absolutey confident that they were exempt.

      • Colin MacKinnon says:

Funnily enough, the SNP government has argued against this:

Scotland and Scottish are the country and the people living in it.

Quite enlightened when the birth rate stats show many countries halving their population by 2300. So immigration the key to my kids getting their nether regions cleaned after the age of 80!

  • Neuromancer says:

Anyone tested recently if this works? I have received avios from Cabify bookings consistently for some time, but about November 2019 they stopped.
