World of Hyatt has extended its generous ‘15% off redemptions’ promotion by three months. It is now good until 4th January 2021.
How does the Hyatt reward night rebate work?
Until 4th January, you will receive a 15% rebate on all completed World of Hyatt redemption nights. This includes Small Luxury Hotels redemptions.
You will also receive free parking on all redemptions, at hotels where parking would otherwise cost extra.
There are four things you need to note:
this is a rebate, not a discount. This means that you need to have the full amount of points in your account before you can book. 15% of the total cost will be returned to your account after your stay.
you must register to take part. The link to register is here.
there is a cap of 30,000 rebated points per transaction but this is very unlikely to impact you. If it would, simply split your booking.
the rebated points will arrive 6-8 weeks after your stay
I strongly recommend registering now because registration closes early, on 1st December. You would be kicking yourself if you decided at some point during December to make a Hyatt redemption.
If you are a few points short of what you need to make a redemption, you can buy World of Hyatt points via this link. Until 30th September, you get a 25% discount (equivalent to a 33% bonus) when you buy points.
If you buy points with a 25% discount and redeem them for stays before 4th January, to get the 15% rebate, you should do very nicely indeed.
Do existing redemption bookings count?
Yes.
The small print says: “Yes, as long as the member or cardmember successfully registers for the promotion by December 1, 2020, their redemption stay will count and they will earn Bonus Points back if they check out between July 8 and January 4, 2021.”
Does the free parking offer apply to cash bookings too?
Only for top tier Globalist members. All other World of Hyatt members will continue to pay for car parking on cash bookings, at hotels where it is charged. Only redemption bookings have free parking until 4th January.
Does the 15% rebate just apply to room bookings?
No.
You will also receive back 15% of any points you use for Points + Cash stays, room upgrades, dining and spa services, and Exhale classes and spa therapies.
You do NOT get a rebate if you transfer your points to airline miles.
This means that using your World of Hyatt points for in-hotel dining and spa credit now becomes even better value. Following recent improvements in the value you get when using Hyatt points for dining and spa, this is something well worth considering.
At present, at the top end, you get $1,000 of hotel credit for 65,000 points. Factoring in the 15% rebate, you are getting $1,000 of credit for 55,250 points. This is 1.81 cents (1.41p) per point of value which is excellent.
There is a separate dining offer too ….
In a separate offer, until 4th January you will receive triple World of Hyatt points if you eat or drink at a participating Hyatt property as a non-resident.
No registration is required, and triple points will post automatically.
Don’t forget that registration is required for the 15% points rebate which you can do here.
