Two of the British Airways lounges at the south end of Heathrow Terminal 5 re-opened today. What food are they serving?

Until 12.30, Business Class / Silver cardholders use Galleries Club South whilst First Class / Gold cardholders use Galleries First. After 12.30, when traffic is lighter, everyone is using Galleries First.

If you were wondering what food is available, here is the post-breakfast menu, courtesy of readers Laura and Andrew. As everyone will be in Galleries First after 12.30, this is what you will receive for lunch and onwards irrespective of the colour of your card or the class of your ticket:

Remember that you need to order by scanning a QR code unless you specifically request a paper menu:

…… with the camera on your mobile to bring up an online menu, with your order delivered directly to your seat. There is no self service food.

The standard range of Galleries First drinks is available, including champagne. This means that Silver cardholders and Club World / Club Europe flyers are getting an upgrade on the quality of drinks available!

Overall, British Airways seems to have done an excellent job here – credit where it’s due.

Would love the QR code ordering to be permanent. My usual experience is you wander around the lounge looking for a menu and then when you find the rare treasure, you then move into hunting down a member of staff to order your food. Expect them to be surprised that you would want to do such a thing and tha5 you picked them.

It’s a shame they don’t have the burger still. Those portion sizes you’d need to order several for any kind of fulfilment. The BA site mentions that crisps and biscuits are available to take away – so presumably they are in a basket somewhere?

Why would you want to visit any lounge in normal times ?
When you can book into the Sofitel the night before drop suitcases off after 6.00 pm
Check in boarding ect
Then Breakfast at Sofitel leaving just 35min to walk through empty security
(maybe one pilot but normally only us) and onto plane
I Time it normally 20min if you know gate number
Even easier at GATWICK (Hilton)

    Stayed there twice, both times upgraded to the new wing, and as both gold and diamond was treated very well. Also very good breakfast.

  What if you aren’t staying at the Sofitel and would prefer to pay much much less for your hotel and avail yourself of the free breakfast you are entitled to in the lounge.

Just experienced lunch in the first class lounge – it was excellent and the table Service was pretty efficient. As time progressed and it got busier it was noticeably longer waiting times but still only a few minutes. The real problem was the queue to get in – we waited in a long line with only one person on the desk and as we left to go to our gate at 2:30pm it was all the way down the hallway back to the Concorde lounge. Overall, from my perspective a great improvement on the buffet experience, but they need to sort capacity.

  I actually have BA Silver but my wife is just Bronze and we will have DD in tow. so, I doubt they will be relaxing policy to let a child in….
  
  I hate queuing to get into lounges anyway. Any chance Aspire or Plaza Premium reopen sooner rather than later?

  Paper menus are available on request but it will be a lot quicker with the phone as you don’t need to wait to request a menu (which will be brought fresh and then destroyed after you’ve touched it).
