IHG’s cancellation policy for coronavirus was due to expire on 30th June. This has now been extended to 31st August 2020. You can read the IHG COVID-19 travel advisory here.
This covers stays at InterContinental, Regent, Six Senses, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Hotel Indigo amongst other brands.
All existing bookings made by 6th April for stays until 31st August 2020 have had their cancellation fees waived. There is NO cancellation or change policy for bookings for dates after 1st September.
You don’t need to worry about new bookings, because a new discounted ‘Book Now, Pay Later’ rate has been introduced. This allows free cancellation, usually up to 24 hours before arrival. In most markets you can no longer book prepaid rooms.
Your IHG Rewards Club elite status has automatically been extended by 12 months, carrying over until early 2022 as this article explains.
