easyJet to restart flights from Luton, Stansted, Manchester and Aberdeen airports from next week

  So do we think that it would be safe to assume that if they’re not selling seats on a particular flight, it’s likely to be cancelled?
  Got tickets MAN-CPH on 11th Aug. Still live in my booking, but they’re not selling that route now until mid-Sept.

      Mostly, if they are not selling seats on flights, it will be cancelled. There have been a few exceptions to this in which seats have gone back on sale though, so don’t rely on it.

        Thanks! They’re giving me the option to change to any other flights with fare difference (nothing I need though) but only up to 14 days before the flight date. I suspect that the cancellation will come after T-13 days, so most people will have taken the voucher!

    You’ll get an email soon offering a voucher with a £10pp uplift and must reply within 5 days. As soon as that expires expect the cancellation email!

      I would have accepted that offer and made use of the voucher immediately – but the T+C’s stated you then waive the right to a refund if your future flight is cancelled! (the flight booking made with a voucher).£
      … so i’ll wait out a refund instead (1 month wait so far)

        yes inserting that consent to loss of your right to a cash refund if easyjet cancels what you rebook to was very, very naughty.

        The voucher only adds a very small amount extra. Easyjet prices are dynamic so you could easily be faced with increases of far more when you come to use it.

        Also if you are required to phone to use the voucher or for any other reason there’s an unpublished different ‘price list’ the agent uses when you phone in. IME that pricelist, which you cannot have access to, regularly added £20 to the cost of each flight booked or changed to on the phone and could be vastly more. It’s not the internet price. You will see the extra money they are charging you if you have the site open when you call.

          Is that enforceable?

          Once one accepts a replacement flight one obviously cannot change one’s mind and go back to a cash refund, but I would have thought that one then had a contract for a flight with the same statutory terms as for any flight.

          I thought contractual wording cannot override statutory rights.
          Otherwise Ryanair, if not Easyjet, would just have a waiver of that in their standard terms and conditions.
          Am I missing something?

          Now they may well be hoping that the wording will intimidate most people from claiming, and that will probably be true – is that what you were meaning?
          But if any passenger goes to court, I would have thought they would win?

        tbh @Bagoly Easyjet has been quite naughty from a contractual point of view, applying new policies that they’ve made no contractual change for (or that alter longstanding custom and practice) without any notification to, nor agreement by the customer. On the luggage thing, for instance, they’ve operated new far, far more expensive and onerous policy since last Quarter of last year. But only very recently (about 2 months or so ago) actually brought it into the contracr by forcing you to tick you accept this changed policy (no choice given) when you change your flight online. Same with the new secret surcharge of at least £20 snuck untransparently on any flight you need to do a phone change on.

        You ‘can’ sign away statutory rights for some things but I am not sure if they cant get away with that sneaky clause.somehow. Most people wouldn’t challenge them though, would they?

        The refund could be some time coming. This is the text shown on the easyJet website after you submit a refund request…

        “Please rest assured that we are trying to get everyone’s refund requests
        processed as quickly as possible. However, our current average processing time
        means that many customers will likely have to wait for the duration of the
        summer, and with our backlog continuing to extend, we anticipate new requests
        taking much longer.”

        In my case the flights were cheap and so I’m not going to get fussed about a long wait for a refund. I’m amused by the line about having to wait “for the duration of the summer”, as it makes it pretty obvious easyJet need some money coming in before they can pay out all the refunds that are owing!

  How far ahead are they cancelling at the minute?

  I’ve got a LGW-MPL flight on the 17th of July that I’m hoping gets cancelled. There are no flights scheduled from Gatwick for July but I’m hoping that I don’t get moved to Luton.

    If the flight is moved to Luton that’s the same as cancellation so would be able to ask for a refund.

    Look at the site. They’ve said it’s 21 days.

    FWIW I think they will be running more of the ‘sold out’ flights in July and August than they would usually – so keep watching especially on holiday routes.

    I wish Easyjet luck as they’re stepping up and trying to start flying again – someone’s got to

  O/T
  Got an LHR-NCE AVIOS BA flight in date of 22 may 2020, cancelled in April. I booked this flight 355 days ahead.

  I did not do anything about it, hoping I could use this to rebook any LON-NCE flight, based on EU reg.

  Now BA refused to book me on July 7th as there was no more AVIOS seats. I argued, showed hem the CAA website stating I can rebook at a date of my choosing. They accepted, but the phone handler came back saying she could not do anything as the ticket validity expired in early June (apparently due to the fact that I booked the flight way ahead).

  I am,pretty sure the law is with me, but getting into their legal department won’t sort me out before July 7th.

  Any view or advice?

    posts submitted are being lost again. even without contentious words, links etc. The site was doing this a lot around last weekend and since then often defaulting to desktop view on mobile. now another post lost. even though clicking twice, getting ‘duplicate post’ error and reloading multiple times the advice I posted in answer to someone has been wasted. It’s too hot to type it all again I’m off to do what I’m really supposed to be doing today instead.

        someone else said their posts were getting lost too about 5 days ago. I suspect only 2% of us mention. i didnt around the weekend even though it kept happening inconsistently. then the prob went away – but happened 1 post this thread so mentioned.

        I’m off now as the muggy weather is about to turn into a potential hailstorm and I might lose my fruit if I don’t pick it

      Sorry about that. We will always have some issues with comments because of how the site is cached (ie you think you are seeing the live site but instead you may be shown a version from a few seconds earlier because it is faster – the page has already been put together for a previous viewer – and the server thinks this is smart) but it isn’t normaly a major problem.

        your host appears to have changed the caching rules over time. posting (except thus issue very recently 5x faster. however for some while lots of times when 3 reloads no longer refresh need 4 or 5. not related to time interval as if I leave the site accidentally open overnight, can take that number of reloads before it refreshes to front page of new day. Same phone over time.

    if they cancelled they cannot insist on an avios seat being available your new chosen date just need any seat in same class of travel they are supposed to rebook you. they should issue a new ticket as their cancellation not yr fault abd any extra admin their problem not yours. try another agent eu261 should give you this.

  They’ve just cancelled Luton – Bordeaux for 8 July, just days before the announcement on 29 June that will hopefully allow travel to France to resume. In this event, is it likely EasyJet will re-instate cancelled flights, and perhaps charge more?

  Ok, so easyjet are flying out of Luton… But if Greece are still putting HEALTY people in to a 8 day lockdown WHAT’S THE POINT
  I hope the travel insurance will payout as we will not be getting what we paid for.
