We have decided to run this new daily chat thread on Head for Points.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the defacto repository for random comments and questions.  It is unlikely that the news flow will be so big over the next few weeks that we will need many ‘Bits’ articles, however.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are stuck at home self-isolating, we want the HFP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as its keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

    Amex issue? Wife referred me from her personal gold credit card for business gold card last Tuesday (2nd June). Card arrived Friday. Activated and added supplementary card straight away.

    So far my wife hasn’t received her referral points, I haven’t received my points for adding supp card, supp card hasn’t arrived and there is no tracker for the 20k point bonus on my card (which I am eligible for). Am I just being impatient? They set an expectation by sending the main card so quickly! I would’ve expected to at least get the referral points by now though.

      Based on my recent experience I’d expect the 20k for you to credit OK without the tracker, and the referral points will never show up. Unless you’re referred *from* the business gold you have no basis to complain, so I didn’t bother. In the past cross referring different products has always worked fine for me, so I guess this is a peculiarity with Gold Business.

      Wally1976@ Hi, I’ve found that Ref Card to Card example BAPC to BAPC card ref points post almost strieght away But BAPC to say Gold can take up to 10 weeks (or less)

    Qatar Airways promotion for NHS staff.
    Recently entered this draw to get free flights after seeing the promotion on HfP. Wasn’t successful on each of the days I entered then out of the blue I’ve received an email that appears genuine from Qatar giving me 50% off economy flights for the rest of 2020.
    Has anyone else received this offer and know if it’s spam or genuine please?

      It’ll most likely be a discount on the base fare only.
      Turkish Airlines are doing 40% off for NHS staff, and their t&cs clearly state the discount is on the base fare alone. Can’t see Qatar being any different.

      And yes it is genuine.

    Excess deaths across the UK getting back to typical pre-outhreak levels so that’s great news. A better indication of the situation on the ground than our (and everybody else’s) usual daily discussion on testing, death stars etc. Provides optimism we will be welcome elsewhere and travelling soon so long as we avoid any more major outbreaks. Probably a good idea to get things planned while generous flexible opportunities still exist but heed warnings from Chris and others yesterday on the need to check the fine print on what we actually book and not just jump to the wrong conclusions.

    Are Virgin having more IT issues? All the Upper Class reward inventory except Boston has been removed. I wonder if this is temporary.

    Tesco Clubcard – anyone received their May clubcard points as avios in their BA account yet? Transfer is normally automatic for me.

    Do NOT do this with Flying Club. Choose Heathrow Rewards instead. 1:1 transfer into Virgin, potential for a transfer bonus AND more hotels offer the 5,000 points when you pick HR.

      Thanks, I actually got the email and was considering it as an easy way to earn a few k VS miles to reset the clock. LHR rewards is a much better option which I’d forgotten about.

    According to the BA Exec club agent I just spoke to (whilst getting a refund for a cancelled booking) if I call back in the final month of my TP collection year and give them all the booking refs of flights they have cancelled they will manually add the TPs I would of earned. Remains to be seen, but there is hope.

      That was going to be my plan.

      I’ve kept all the emails re cancelled flights and worked out the TPs I would have got.

      Would mean I’d be gold from November and not my expected Bronze because my current silver is the run out year if it,
