The new HFP chat thread – Friday 29th May

We have decided to run this new daily chat thread on Head for Points.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the defacto repository for random comments and questions. It is unlikely that the news flow will be so big over the next few weeks that we will need many ‘Bits’ articles, however.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind. At this tricky time, and given that many of you are stuck at home self-isolating, we want the HFP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article. This has long-term benefits as its keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HFP shows the last page of comments under the article. Just booked an Edinburgh to London City for 1st and 2nd July with my 241, which is due to expire in October – in the hope that they cancel it and I can then get the 241 valid until 2021 as part of a Future Travel Voucher for a USA trip at New Year.

  Didn’t use a 241 but two of my cancelled to flights to LCY I was rebooked to LHR (from TXL). I did still take a refund on one and intending to take the other in July.

Advice on partially cancelled flight? BA.

I was due to fly Glasgow to Alicante via Gatwick on the 7th of July.
BA cancelled the Glasgow Gatwick legs yesterday but not the leg to Alicante.

I know from here that this flight isn’t leaving from Gatwick, but till they do something I’m in limbo.

Phoned depart BA and they offered refund or rebooking…but many holiday destinations are still saying gatwick departures.
So the chances are I’d book new flights and the same thing happens.

I’m thinking I’ll give it 2 or 3 weeks and see what has developed.

Any other suggestions?

  At present, Tui, Jet 2 and Easyjet are all showing as having direct timetabled flights to Alicante from GLA. Jet2 Also have a very civilised 10:45 flight from Edinburgh.
  
  What will fly on the 7th July is anyone’s guess.
