  It was more a question of everybody wanting to do it, and there not being enough space. With everybody home from work, even without distancing the outdoor spaces available would not have been large enough.

  This would have led to fights between people wanting to preserve distance or find a space. So it would have become a civil disorder issue.

  That is why they kept trying to move people on who even sat on a park bench for a while. Heavy handed as some of them were in categories needing just to rest. But if everybody sat around, the 1 hour would have been breached, again causing disputes between people because “if he can stay out that long then so can I” email etc. Again civil disorder potential.

  Yes the incidents you read about where people with walking sticks who clearly needed to gather their strength before moving on were definitely handled heavy handedly but you can understand why the police received the instructions they did in the first round.

    IME there are lots of people who don’t take care to observe social distancing. Many examples of younger people thinking ‘Im all right it’ll never affect me even if I get it and I’m invulnerable anyway” so couldn’t give a t”as simply advance on other people and force the other people to leap out of the way to maintain the prescribed distance. Almost aggressive some of those and sadly mainly women.

    Then there’s the blokes. Many of them seem simply unable to measure things. Like how long is 1 metre. I honestly think some of them think 1 metre is 1 foot.

    Then there’s the shopper who simply must reach over you to the refrigerated cabinet and thinks that provided they come up behind you then even if their hair brushes yours as they bump into you as they reach from behind across your shoulder distance doesn’t count.

    We need rules to be laid down and enforced because the human race simply doesn’t listen.

      There are employers too who are failing to protect their staff and customers. The owner of one butchers I know brags that it has been like Christmas every day for over a month but she has failed to enforce social distancing of her customers, and has failed to provide her staff with masks, shields or barriers. She has three, and sonetimes four, staff working behibd a counter less than 4 m long, and one of the shop assistants is over 70.

      Agree with you about DIY stores. its been bliss I the only one I have access to. Supermarkets is where the problem is.

      Thats outrageous @BJ. Are customers not having a quiet word with that shop owner? If not that is actually a case I’d phone the council about.

      I’ve had an FFP3 respirator, not just a mask, (we have FFP3 masks too) for nearly two months now. In our household we very well prepared. Not allowing my elderly grandparents fall victim to the marvellous Envy of the World they’ve two boxes of FF3 masks since March 1st, which are barely used as they don’t leave the confines of their estate.

    Some of the ‘few extra’ will die though SS. Ventilators don’t help everyone and if you needed a ventilator IIRC you will have damage as well.

      @SS the predominance of working age people probably want this being were talking human race and selfishness and ‘me-me-me’ trends. The government probably can see it that neutrally but it’s a bit of a vote loser.

      I do not think economic and other usefulness is strictly correlated to age though – there’s people I’ve come across of all ages I think the world doesn’t really need and a number of people of all ages that the world is improved by.

      We don’t know that it will mutate as Spanish flu did and come back to target the young and healthy in another wave. Best to be cautious till we know more. I think there are at least 3 main strains out there already.

    or not sit/lie down or stop out more than an hour
    You now have footballers (or their teams) wanting to play football Hmmm social distancing pass ball two meters apart.
    Not only that they probably want to be tested for corona virus before the rest of the uk

    The sad situation is that deaths could have been much lower still had the government taken action to identify and isolate cases two months ago. The sad situation now is that they persist with the biggest con of all…that masks do not help. They do, they need to be provided, and people need to be required to wear them in public places. If they did cases would sink like a stone. There is a good reason why people in East Asia wear masks at the first sign of viral outbreaks and it is not because they are fashion accessories.

    @BJ a mask unless N95 (better N100) does not
    protect you. It protects others from you if you are a transmitter but only adds about 5% to other measures. Obviously helps if you cough or clear your throat or speak and a bit less if you sneeze.

    Cloth masks need to be cleaned thoroughly after each use and this means 20min in
    washing machine at 90 degrees or 30 Mon at 60 degrees. Like with 20seconds handwashing soap destroys bacteria but works on viruses byenabling the virus to be loosened off hand or cloth and washed away but frottage/rubbing is essential.

    I can see some people’s masks actually becoming a sink of infection that they carry around the place. I shall be using disposable masks as a courtesy (when I can find any). Also if you think a mask will protect you then you should wear glasses as a barrier as well. Jus’ sayin’.

    Don’t buy into the con, the only reason they are not promoting masks is because they cannot provide them. Not just in the uK but elsewhere too. Much of what you say is true but it is relevant at the individual scale, you need to scale it up through groups, workplaces, communities, regions, countries. When you do the impact becomes huge. Try researching the European country that required the wearing of masks, and what happened to transmission and case numbers when they did.

    May I kindly suggest you’ve missed the purpose. Topping up NS&I with Curve linked to a credit card is a MS opportunity to earn miles. If you’re topping up Revolut with an underlying credit card, you may as well just transfer it to your bank account. That keeps Nikolay’s cash flow’s looking rosy to his many “investors”.

  quick question sorry! If i send money abroad using a credit card would I be hit with fees i am presuming since it is a cash transaction yes? I was thinking of sending money abroad using my IHG credit card but im sure it will incur fees, I tried to look for the information online but couldn’t find much about it.

  I sincerely appreciate any help thank you!
