What British Airways long-haul flights are scheduled for May?

If you think that there are no British Airways long-haul flights currently running, think again. On paper at least, the airline is planning a schedule for May.

Even if you have no intention of travelling – or if the country won’t let you in! – the flights may well operate in order to bring travellers back home.

The list below was published by Routes Online on Saturday morning. We have checked it and it appears to be accurate.

This list is clearly hugely speculative – although the flights ARE bookable on ba.com.

Of those, Brazil seems to be the only viable option. But the other countries may or may not relax entry restrictions by May.

The question is, is leaving the country a reasonable excuse for being out of the house?

  In my book, it’s not a reasonable excuse if it’s for holiday purposes. For a start, unless every single asymptomatic traveller is going to get tested prior to the flight (can’t see that happening) the flight attendants themselves will be put at risk due to the close proximity with passengers for the long haul flight. As a minimum the passengers would have to sit 2 seats apart and 2 rows apart – and even that is not risk-free. I can’t see the BA flight operating with only a quarter capacity either!

But they keep moving the goalpost. Until yesterday they were going to fly to Toronto from May 8, now they’ve moved this to the 16th. I need to get back to Canada in May but I’ll fly AC. At least they’ve guaranteed their schedule for April and May.

    Friends of mine were going to travel to see their parents/in-laws in Ireland over Easter and would have been travelling Aer Lingus. They obviously didn’t go but the airline only gave them a credit voucher for their next trip.

We’re due to fly JNB on 10th May via ABZ LHR JNB. Booked in July 2019 using a 2-4-1, specifically booked seats on the 747 UD as it might be the last chance to fly on the old lady.
As things stand today we wouldn’t be allowed into RSA, Namibia and Botswana where we’d be travelling to. FCO advice is not to travel. Feeling like we’re between a rock and a hard place. We’re hoping that the flight will be cancelled for a refund of the taxes and seat fees.
I wouldn’t fancy an 11 hour LH flight in J with just a sandwich either.
