All British Airways American Express 2-4-1 companion vouchers extended by six months

Finally ….

With absolutely zero fanfare – in fact, with no notification of any sort – all British Airways American Express 2-4-1 companion vouchers have been extended by six months.

Here is a screenshot from my account to prove it:

Note that my vouchers were issued in October / November 2019 and so should have expired in October / November 2021. This is off a British Airways Premium Plus American Express so the voucher has a 2-year validity.

Instead, they now expire in April / May 2022.

For clarity, neither of these vouchers has ever been used to book a flight. They are not vouchers which have been returned to my account following an enforced flight cancellation.

Looking at reader feedback, it seems that all vouchers have been extended. Even ones which only triggered in the last 48 hours are showing a 30-month validity on Premium Plus cards. What we won’t know for a few days is whether vouchers triggered AFTER today come through with 24 months or 30 months.

Hopefully you will see the same when you go into your British Airways Executive Club account.

How about the Lloyds Upgrade Vouchers, anyone heard anything about them being extended? Who should we ask (or annoy_ to get that one extended… BA, Amex or Lloyds?

  None of the above, these are with Avios who you would need to call when the current chaos dies down.
  I had to cancel a flight booked on a Lloyds voucher last week (due to the various travel restrictions) and was told that the voucher would be extended by six months from the date of cancellation (it would already have expired). The various refunds etc have yet to reach my account – however they did say it would take a bit of time.

    Thank you George for the information. I have used ‘Live Chat’ to discuss about an existing voucher and yes, they have offered to extend it for 6 months, by request. However, I guess the Live Chat system is quite overloaded and it frozed on me. I will need to contact them back for an existing booking that was cancelled by BA and get that voucher extended too.

  No. It’s still such a half-hearted measure.
  
  For example, we have a voucher that was due to expire 22 March 2020, that we were due to be using for a trip leaving last week that had to be cancelled.
  
  It hasn’t been extended, so has now expired! Typical BA.
  
  Eroded any limited goodwill I had for them. Complete contrast with Virgin, who have been so easy to deal with.

I presume this was done by Amex and not BA? My 241 has been extended but not my GUF2. Any insight as to whether an extension is likely to be forthcoming on a BA issued voucher?

What is the opinion for calling BA to change a booking avios flight on a 241 voucher? I can’t do it online and twitter haven’t said if I should call or not. Flight not till June but want to move it to next March

  For a June departure you would be on the hook for the cancellation fee. Free changes are only up to May 31st right now. There’s also likely a problem depending when you originally booked as you can’t typically move the departure date more than 12 months beyond the original issue date.
  
  So presumably if you really want those March 2021 seats, just cancel online and rebook, again online.
