British Airways delays Boeing 787-10 aircraft introduction – again

As we covered here, British Airways is soon to receive its first Boeing 787-10 aircraft.  It is the larger but shorter-range version of the Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 787-8 which are already in the BA fleet.

The key difference for passengers is that the 787-10 is being delivered with the new Club Suite business class seat.  The rest of the Boeing 787 fleet is well down the list of aircraft to be refurbished because they are, of course, still relatively new.

The first 787-10 will go onto the Atlanta route.

This was originally timetabled for 25th February.   It then moved to 10th March, as we covered a few weeks ago.  This date has also been missed and, according to AirlineRoute, the aircraft is now due to enter service on 14th April.

This means that anyone who was expecting the new Club Suite on their 787-10 to Atlanta will now be stuck with the old Club World seat and a Boeing 787-9.  There is no change for First Class passengers as the same seat is being used on the 787-10 and 787-9.

OT is there still bonus for adding supp to amex business gold? Is it just one or more? Nothing showing in my offers.

    • Jay H says:

99 additional card holders you can add. All with 3K bonus in my experience….

  • AlexT says:

OT: Has anyone tried loading up Revolut w/ a Barclaycard in the past couple of days? There were reports on Friday of VISA card top-ups registering as a purchase, but I don’t think the person specifically mentioned Barclaycard as the provider…

    • Secret Squirrel says:

I tried a top up today for the first time since MCC changed & got bank details wrong on card?
Was fine a few weeks ago..😢

  • Stu_N says:

Club Suite related – looks like some reshuffling on the daily wide body return to Madrid (BA460/BA461) during June. All 777s as far as I can see, looks like CW most days until 22 June then CS most days from 23 onwards. Sadly our CS flight is now CW 🙁

As I said a few weeks ago, DON’T book this just to try CW as it’s going to be prone to equipment changes but if you’re going anyway could be a nice bonus.

    • MattB says:

My JFK to LHR flight in April has reverted back to CW, was the suite setup for past few months 🙁

Booked before CS had been announced so no as if we booked specifically for the new layout.

  • Gringo says:

Is there a way to split Amex Travel payments to utilise the offer on 2 cards? Thanks

    • Lev441 says:

      2 x one ways?

It’s what I did for WestJet flights to Canada. It actually worked out cheaper than booker a return by about £10.

    • Harry T says:

Not that I’m aware of. Perhaps make two separate bookings? Will be a bit of a hassle though and could cause problems down the line.

  • SammyJ says:

OT, Tesco pet insurance… anyone else bought it last month and had the points credit the CC acc? About 40 days on and nothing showing on mine or a friend’s.

    • rams1981 says:

hopefully you didn’t buy the basic cover like I did which doesn’t qualify.

    • Allycat says:

There was discussion about it last week in comments. The points started posting last week, dead on time of the 35 days after the first day of the offer.

    • Graeme says:

One cat has, another hasn’t. The one that has I bought on day one, the one that hasn’t Mrs Graeme bought about a week later so in theory they’ll (hopefully) appear this week.

      • Munch says:

        +1

        • SammyJ says:

Thanks guys. It’s been over 40 days since I purchased (purrr-chased?) and still nothing. I bought the one that wasn’t the most basic so should be WiFi me.

  • Rich says:

    OT Eurostar

Anyone have experience of rebooking (due to strikes) and earning points? I had some pretty expensive Eurostar tickets booked over new year, but they allowed me to postpone due to SNCF strikes. I’m about to rebook but the cash price is much less than I paid.

Think I’ll get points based on what I paid, or what I’m rebooked into?

Further complicated by the need to retro claim for my niece and nephew, who don’t have club Eurostar accounts (but I think I can claim and take their points?)

  • Rich says:

    OT Amex Offers/ Apple Store

Just to confirm that this works at the Apple Refurb store. Tracked instantly.

  • AndyF says:

Hello, I am looking at booking an open-jaw flight to the east coast USA to LA fly back from Seatle or something to that effect, I am wondering can I book this in two stages using a 2-4-1 Amex BA voucher to secure the first flight then ring up and book the next leg when we have confirmed what date we need /want.

Can I book the first leg online then ring for the second leg I know you can do this with a standard booking but as its an open jaw I thought I’d check? Thanks all!
