British Airways delays Boeing 787-10 aircraft introduction – again

As we covered here, British Airways is soon to receive its first Boeing 787-10 aircraft.  It is the larger but shorter-range version of the Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 787-8 which are already in the BA fleet.

The key difference for passengers is that the 787-10 is being delivered with the new Club Suite business class seat.  The rest of the Boeing 787 fleet is well down the list of aircraft to be refurbished because they are, of course, still relatively new.

The first 787-10 will go onto the Atlanta route.

This was originally timetabled for 25th February.   It then moved to 10th March, as we covered a few weeks ago.  This date has also been missed and, according to AirlineRoute, the aircraft is now due to enter service on 14th April.

This means that anyone who was expecting the new Club Suite on their 787-10 to Atlanta will now be stuck with the old Club World seat and a Boeing 787-9.  There is no change for First Class passengers as the same seat is being used on the 787-10 and 787-9.

Well – that was fun: driving up to B’ham Airport from Cornwall to collect my daughter. At least it’s a tidy wee airport and seems very well-organised for Arrivals. Thanks to Sandgrounder for the McD’s advice, so even though her flight got delayed, I had free wifi on a device I can handle – brick tablet with big keys lol – so knew about it & only had to waste one hour’s carpark fee

Good roads apart from the constant rain on the way up.

Thanks to Wizz for allowing 15YOs to travel on their own. Not all airlines allow this. She got stopped several times by people in positions of authority questioning her as to what she was doing on her own – good thing, underage sex workers and all that – but ultimately they all let her travel.

not sure where it leaves us, though I hope I can draw some positives
      – daughter – under protest & bribe – back in UK – will go to school tomorrow having only missed 1 day (medical emergency)
      – wife stuck/ insisted out at our place in the sun, gone a bit stressed, keeping her job going by doing the emails though I’m sure any co’s patience can be strained even by bereavement in motion – her mum not dead yet but getting weaker by the day, our daughter said her granny now can’t move or talk or eat/ drink but is on drips
      – this situation could obvs end overnight or go on for weeks

car stuck at Bristol Airport £15/ day

      • Lady London says:

So sorry to hear that Harry

        • Lady London says:

Based on what you said she’s been saying it sounds like she herself would take the natural course. Hard for those surrounding her to let it though – both family and professional. Can’t be easy to sort out the logistics whilst supporting your wife to do what she needs to. You and keeping up working are probably what’s giving her some grounding right now. Let her work through it and let things play out, maybe collect the car from Bristol if you’re prepared to do the run again when needed?
