British Airways adds extra March and April flights to Cape Town, Miami and Seattle

British Airways has launched some additional long-haul flights for April and May.

This should provide additional Avios availability if you jump in quickly.  Miami for Easter may now be possible if you’re keen.

I am guessing that these flights use the aircraft which are no longer flying to China and Hong Kong due to coronavirus.  The Miami flight, for example, lands at 04.50 whilst the cancelled Hong Kong flight landed at 04.45.

Extra British Airways flights to Cape Town

The new services are:

Cape Town – three extra flights per week from 30th March to 19th April

Seattle – an extra DAILY service from 1st May to 31st May

Miami – an extra DAILY flight from 1st April to 31st May

Miami Unsplash

Note that the extra Cape Town and Miami flights are from Terminal 5 and NOT Terminal 3, which is bound to cause some confusion.

You can look for availability at ba.com.

Ahh, so this is why there’s suddenly loads of F availability to Miami in April and May.

  • Mark says:

Sorry asked this on a post a couple days ago but don’t think Rhys seen in. Is Bangkok moving to 787 or a refurbed 777? Jan 2021 flight still showing as a 777 on the flight information on BA.

    • Nick says:

787 – but only temporarily, while some 777s are offlined for refurbishment. Currently planned to go back to 777, but could change again.

      • Mark says:

        Thanks Nick.

        • Rhys says:

Sorry! Goes 787 from June/July until the end of the summer schedule (end of October). I wouldn’t be too concerned about after that – BA hasn’t loaded the A350 routes for this winter yet either, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it remains 787 as the 777 aircraft that operate the route are one of the last to be refurbished in 2021.

I currently have a flight booking for Feb 2021 so hoping it stays 787!

  • Tom says:

I wonder how the CPT planes will fill up this close to departure and for just 20ish days?

  • Nick G says:

OT – stayed at crown plaza Newcastle for two nights this week. Points posted for stay but not bonus points on the x4 offer. I always get my bonus points the day my stay points post. Phoned IHG who said ring back in 2/3 weeks. I had zero confidence in the explanation and sounded like a fob off. Just wondered whether anyone else had similar experiences?

    Cheers

    • Benj says:

My 1,000 bonus for the first night just came through this morning for a stay on 15 Feb.

  • Jonathan says:

Anyone looked what plane will be doing the CPT flights? If it’s T5 then assuming a 777?

  • Chris says:

OT – I’m moving to Canada, anybody know a blog/site like HFP? I’ve found some that deal with miles but they don’t seem as good frankly, so I thought I would try the HFP brain.

  • Smid says:

    Hoho. Fights to Cape Town…

  • Guy G says:

    OT if someone would know.

With the Virgin credit cards, if you cancel and re apply a year later do you know if the bonus is applicable on the second time? I read somewhere there was a 6 months break but wasnt sure if this was just being able to apply or for the bonus.

    Thanks

    • Rob says:

In theory you get the bonus. In reality they won’t accept your application, based on current practice.

      • MJ says:

To clarify on this Rob, do you know if it is possible to cancel the free card and then apply for the premium card after 6 months with the bonus? (or even without the bonus if that’s not an option)

        • AndyGWP says:

I was informed by the call centre that the rules on changing between cards has changed 3 or 4 times since the cards inception.

Your best bet for an accurate answer, is to call for the latest position
