One of IHG’s flagship hotel openings for 2020, Kimpton Vividora in Barcelona, is about to open.
It is due to launch on Monday 17th February although, at present, bookings are only being taken from 1st March.
A couple of images are above and below. Kimpton properties are generally very stylish but are NOT aimed at the ‘W’ heavy drinking and partying crowd, targeting an older demographic. I see them as a slightly cheaper version of Marriott’s EDITION brand.
The location seems very good, in the heart of the Gothic Quarter on Carrer del Duc. The rooftop pool looks pretty nifty too.
As a redemption, it will be 50,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night. Redemptions book into base rooms which at 16-19 square metres feel very small.
Cash rates are modest for the first few weeks (from €160) so paying cash is a better deal. You should also look at the suites which are not substantially pricier. Peak Summer rates are around €240 which makes points a better deal, although still not much beyond my target valuation of 0.4p per point.
