It must be pretty busy over at the Aspire lounges HQ, with three new openings in the last couple of months (Eindhoven, the recently reviewed Club Aspire at Gatwick South and the 2nd Aspire lounge at Edinburgh).

To promotes its new sites, Aspire has launched a 10% discount for its UK and Ireland lounges.

You have to use this link to get the discount, which is then automatically applied to any booking.  The offer expires on 19th January 2020, so you must book before this date, however it can be for any future date of travel. The discount is available on all Swissport owned and operated Aspire, Club Aspire and Aspire Plus lounges in the UK and Ireland.

To ensure the correct discount is applied, you may need to start a new browser session and / or clear your cache before clicking on the link.

In addition to this offer, if you have any upcoming trips planned to Eindhoven, this lounge is currently only €25, rather than the usual €35.

OT: I see the LNER 5% back amex offer has a £30 cap, but am fairly sure that wasn’t there originally (thought it was just 5% every time). Does anyone else remember if they had the cap in the T&Cs to begin with?

    • Andrew says:

It was. LBG have the same 5% offer and £30 maximum. Potentially handy, and there’s various offers on Nectar too.

It’s all a balance though. When I’m travelling to Central Scotland from London, it makes little difference to me whether I go East or go West. Virgin Trains had negotiated a 20% discount with many major firms (including NHS and Universities) on advance tickets – luckily Avanti have chosen to continue the offer. So 20% tends to beat 5% every time.

      • Allan says:

How do you avail of this discount?

        • Andrew says:

Just click through from your employer’s portal for staff offers.

There’s usually all sorts on there. 10% back on Virgin Flights and 15% back on Hilton and IHG for the next few days too.

My plan is to buy £30 LNER vouchers and save them in my account. Then burn them on train tickets of any value at the LNER website. Vouchers expire after 12 months so you need to be sure the vouchers will get spent. You can buy any train tickets on LNER website. However I’m not convinced a 5% saving is worth the effort.

Bits Popped up on my First Direct Visa Offers.

A £100 fundsreturn on *telephone* sales at Broadway Travel when you spend £1200. It’s not a firm I’m familiar with, but they appear to be a BA appointed operator if that means something.
