Sometimes there are long running offers which we don’t mention because they have been around, unchanged, forever.  Now and then I like to dust one off.  A good example is this long-running offer of 3,000 Flying Club miles for your first order from Virgin Wines.

Virgin Wines used to be part of Laithwaites which runs most of the mail-order wine clubs under different brands, including British Airways Wine Explorer, but was sold in a £14m management buyout a few years ago.

Virgin Wines

At present, you can join their ‘Discovery’ wine club and buy a half-price mixed case of wine for £65.  Virgin Wines will throw in a free bottle of champagne as well.

12 bottles of wine, a bottle of champagne and 3,000 Flying Club miles is not a bad deal for £65.  You also get free next day delivery.

There is no obligation to make further purchases, although you will receive 750 miles per case if you do.

As you are forced to join the ‘Discovery’ wine club, you will need to cancel your membership after the first case has arrived or they will try to sell you further cases on a regular basis.

@Colin MacKinnon if you’re here today, drop me an email jcartwri@protonmail.com . Have some information that might help you a lot with your recent “Alert” post…

  • _nate says:

I tried to order this but the free shipping didn’t apply at the checkout so I gave up.

(I wish that these mixed case offers gave you 12 different wines rather than having some of them duplicated.)

    • Shoestring says:

can’t help with that but as a tip to existing members going for 750 points or for future reference, reviewing a Virgin wine from your first order gives you free P&P on the next order, ad infinitum, saving you £7.99

  • Ben says:

Call them and they’ll take the delivery off

  • Andrew says:

How do you get the free champagne? Doesn’t seem to come up on mine

    • @mkcol says:

Click on the 2nd link entitled “you can join their ‘Discovery’ wine club” otherwise the 1st link takes you to their wine bank.

      • Andrew says:

        Ahhh yes – many thanks

      • Steve says:

Essentially this is two offers, but it’s worded poorly suggesting it’s one offer!

Join the winebank and get free delivery but no champers
Join the Discovery and get champage but pay for delivery
