Heading to Singapore? Check out the brand new Qantas First Class lounge

If you find yourself in Singapore’s Changi Airport with a few hours to kill and happen to be in possession of oneworld Emerald status, a British Airways Executive Club Gold card or are travelling in First Class on a oneworld airline, you should check out the new Qantas First Class lounge.

It occupies a brand new site in the airport and opened on Monday. Photos and early feedback appear to be excellent.

It is located near the D gates in Terminal 1, which is the opposite end to the C gates where the existing Qantas business class lounge is. It takes around 10 minutes to walk from one to the other.

The new Qantas First Class Lounge has seating for up to 240 passengers, which is a significant boost to capacity. This should mean an end to the overcrowding at the business class lounge, so you may benefit from this new lounge even if you can’t use it yourself. It is open between 14:30 and midnight daily.

It is designed by David Caon and Akin Ateliertas and looks very, very stylish:

…. with lots of polished brass, marble, leather and wood to give it a very warm feeling. There is a large dining room with an impressive a la carte menu:

The lounge features a range of zones and seating choices, from more office-style desks to casual armchairs and sofas:

If you are passing through Singapore soon the new Qantas First Class lounge definitely looks like it is worth trying out.

How exciting – my wife and child will get a chance to try this lounge out in June as I’ve managed to upgrade them today to BA 1st, effectively paying £70 and 32k extra avios to try this lounge out (+ a better BA experience obviously)

    BA 2 for 1 – already booked in business… LHR-SIN-SYD one way, SIN-LHR (open jaw).. upgraded the SIN-LHR only to first… monitoring the SYD-SIN x2 business to complete the journey…

        rewardflightfinder is awesome for this… BA will even let you hold reward seats whilst you transfer points around from amex (takes about 24-48 hours) – not sure if thats normal or a gold only thing…

The Qantas Lounge has actually been open for a few weeks (Monday was merely the ‘official’ launch). I’ve flown through a couple of times over the past few weeks and it is a beautiful lounge. All food is a la carte though the menu is a tad seafood and fish heavy for my tastes. The staff are lovely and service is top-notch (think, cold towel on a silver plate brought to you when you sit down, along with house marinated olives!). One comment worth making is that 75% of the lounge is given over to dining meaning there isn’t actually much space to ‘lounge’. I have a copy of the menu if Rob or others want it.

Either way, it’s a cut above the BA or QF J lounges though during my long connection I actually moved over to the J lounge as F just felt a bit stuffy and sterlie.

I’m in BA First to Sydney in February and can’t wait to try out this lounge. How long would we actually have inside the lounge whilst the plane is refuelled/cleaned? Thanks in advance for the advice.

      My memory is that there is quite a lot of screening etc as you reboard the flight, so 1Hr 40 min is less than you think

  You basically want to move your arse and get to the lounge pronto. First to avoid the delays checking in and secondly to get a shower. Then you really don’t have much time left as they start boarding 50 to 45 mins beforehand, even if you don’t want to be first on the plane. Security screening takes place at the gate so they won’t leave without you but timing it right to avoid the queue will take some luck.
