Final Black Friday post: Virgin Upper Class flights to Boston for just £925

I think we’ve all just about had enough of Black Friday deals now. I’d be failing in my duty not to mention this one though.

Virgin Atlantic is offering a £925 return fare to Boston in Upper Class.

This is an exceptional Upper Class fare which, if you route it with a plane change in New York, will also let you try the new Upper Class Suite:

You can also route via Paris if you want to fly on Air France under a Virgin codeshare.

You can also fly on Delta if you want to give them a try.

Or, of course, fly on the direct Virgin Atlantic service to Boston with the older Upper Class seat.

Whichever way you route it, you will earn your Flying Club miles and status points.

A weekend stay is required, best availability is February and March 2020.

To maximise your miles when paying, your best bet is one of the two Virgin Atlantic Reward credit cards. These earn double miles (3 per £1 on the paid card or 1.5 per £1 on the free card) when you book at virginatlantic.com or via Virgin Holidays.

Another option is American Express Preferred Rewards Gold which offers double points – 2 per £1 – when you book flight tickets directly with an airline.

  I flew on a Airbus A350 G-VPOP from JFK to LHR yesterday. All I can say the new Upper Class is absolutely fantastic.
  I used to fly BA all the time but having discovered this fantastic product its good bye BA.
  On the IFE you also get a tail camera where you can watch your aircraft flying.
  As for the seats they are second to none.
  You will not be disappointed. Try it for yourself.

  one one of the days I searched the only via AMS route that was offered was KL to AMS then DL to BOS was on the outbound. Returns were all to LON

Great sale, but super restricted dates — can only travel on Thursdays and Mondays in the last week of February and all of March.

I would use my Virgin Atlantic Credit card for booking flights with them, but my credit limit is measly £500! My Amex card has a limit that’s over 10x that amount.

So it’s hard to use their own cards to make flight bookings with!

  Have you asked for a limit increase (once you’ve had the card for 6 months). Their limits definitely go to at least £24,000 for some.

      I got £2100 on acceptance and after six months the max I could increase it too was £4200. At that point I had put £24k or so through the card.

        @HarryT once I had hit 1k ish I was paying it off straight away and would repeat this. App is naff and is consistently down but still manageable. Much easier now with my higher limit.

It looks like Virgin Group does not want anymore to sell 31% of Virgin atlantic to Air France.

And AF seems keen not to buy it. Delta seems also fine with that.

Does it mean Flying Club will have restricted access to AF and KLM redemption flights?

    Sub-headline: “Virgin Group ne souhaite plus vendre” ie Virgin does not want to see any more. Further down is the comment that the money could be better spent on new aircraft.
    
    And the surprise comment that apparently Branson and Delta are eye-to-eye on this…

        1. On my own hardware I try to avoid anything to do with Google, as far as possible. I do use Chrome regularly, for the best part of one day a week, and I dislike it.

      Short version:-
      
      Delta told AF/KLM that Virgin Group no longer wished to sell, believing that the new JV is sufficient. Delta seemingly agrees (despite having pushed AF/KLM for years to buy into VS), and AF/KLM are yet to decide whether to go ahead with the equity investment (which they’re contractually entitled to do) or spend the money elsewhere, e.g. fleet renewals.

    A quick summary of the article, there are 2 aspects of the Virgin/AFKL marriage.
    The first one is the transatlantic JV, which is maintained.
    The second one is the sale of the 31% stake in Virgin’s capital. It’s this part that’s questioned now.

Still some good prices out there.

Go to the Black Fridays deals page. Scroll way down to the bottom where the deals start to list upper class prices. Click on the deal for LHR to BOS and it’ll show you flight prices in March for 7 days. Somewhere in the top left you can change the view to calendar mode and then scroll through the months to see more availability. You don’t need to go for 7 days, if you find a cheap Thursday and Monday you can then use these specific dates in the flight finder to get that price.
