Avis and Aer Lingus AerClub have launched a competition to win one of five prizes of 50,000 Avios.

The good news is that there is virtually no effort required to enter as long as you are already an Aer Lingus AerClub member.  If not, you can sign up for free via this page of the Aer Lingus website.

If you win, your prize will be dropped into your AerClub account, but you can move the Avios across to British Airways Executive Club in two minutes by using ‘Combine Your Avios’.

You can enter via this special page of the Avis website.

Avis bonus avios

There are three questions to answer:

How many bonus Avios will AerClub members collect when they book a car group C or above for 3 or more days with Avis between 1st October – 30th November 2019 for rental between 1st October – 15th December 2019?

Answer: 700

AerClub members are entitled to a free additional driver on every Avis rental? (True or False?)

Answer: True

When AerClub members join Avis Preferred how many bonus Avios will they collect on their first Preferred rental?

Answer: 1,000

The closing date is 30th November.  It is one entry per person and you must be over 18 years old.

Click here to enter.  Remember that you need a 3081XXXXXXXX AerClub number to enter, and not a British Airways Executive Club membership number.

There are no residency restrictions – you do not need to live in Ireland to take part.  Good luck!

  • Simon Smart says:

Can’t add my BA Executive number and password when it asks for Avios details. Incorrect username etc

    • Peter K says:

      From above:
Click here to enter. Remember that you need a 3081XXXXXXXX AerClub number to enter, and not a British Airways Executive Club membership number.

    • Crafty says:

      Did you read the article?

“Remember that you need a 3081XXXXXXXX AerClub number to enter, and not a British Airways Executive Club membership number.”

    • Mike says:

Simon – I suspect the issue is that you are trying to enter your BA Executive number and password when the article does advise “……..that you need a 3081XXXXXXXX AerClub number to enter, and not a British Airways Executive Club membership number”

    • Chrisasaurus says:

      Oh Simon….

I was going to post about the competition in the comments but saw the article.

Questions around Simon’s comprehension aside, it is an young that you need to enter Avios acc no – surely email address identities you plenty well enough? And most of us cant exactly recite them…

    • Paul says:

Similarly confused. I understand it’s not the BA Exec number for the AerClub number (yes, it has to be a 3081…) but the second box asking about AVIOS membership… I presume now that AVIOS standalone has gone by the board, it requires me to say no I don’t have an AVIOS account, and create a new one…

  • Nick says:

Simon – your surname seems to be something of a misnomer. Rob Burgess’ article clear states “Remember that you need a 3081XXXXXXXX AerClub number to enter, and not a British Airways Executive Club membership number.”.

  • JohnT says:

I would say 500 for last q, as is for 1st rental not just joining.?

    • john says:

I would agree with you John, however they have updated the website now to say 1,000!

“When you receive your Avis Preferred card you will also receive a voucher for 1,000 bonus Avios on your next Avis Preferred rental.”

  • Steve-B says:

I signed up for Avis Preferred 3 weeks ago and no sign of the voucher. Anyone with recent experience of how long this takes?

    • Paul says:

Similar issues when I joined a while ago. Phoned helpline eventually, and was informed you have to opt in to ALL emails (marketing, updates, partners etc), and you would PROBABLY receive voucher in one of these emails, or you should call helpline who will then add two your account. Not exactly obvious route, but…

  • Brian says:

Can’t trust them. Never got the signing up points when they launched AerClub.

  • AJA says:

I joined Avis Preferred through BA and my first rental was in Sep. When does the 1,000 bonus credit to BAEC? I am signed up for all the marketing guff too but no sign of bonus yet. The Avios for the rental have posted along with the bonus for paying with BA Amex.

  • Tubbs says:

I tried to join AerClub but get a message ‘Unfortunately we are unable to complete your registration.’
I had an Avios account but this is now closed. Initially I tried to use my old Avios username but was forced to choose another username. AerClub seemed to want to link me to my old Avios account. I was asked to confirm Avios username & password but this was rejected (passwords are now different format).
Can anyone offer advice, other than contacting AerClub direct. Thanks.

    • Nick S says:

I have exactly the same problem
Aer Club have tried twice to sort it out, no luck so far
The last email from them on 17th Sept said they had referred it to their IT dept

    • Ralph says:

I don’t believe old Avios accounts were “closed”. They were just disabled / locked. You’ll therefore need unique details.

How I know this? I can’t normally log into Avios.com using my old details. BUT, every time I use a Lloyds voucher I need to call them up to complete the booking. During that process they temporarily unlock the account and if I’m quick I can actually log into it and have a snoop. I regularly took screenshots of my Voucher balance (as they have mucked this up in the past). They have unfortunately recently changed their website so while I *can* still log in (albeit briefly, as they re-lock when they are done), I can’t see the voucher balance any more 🙁

    • John says:

My wife has this problem and it isn’t worth the bother to try and get it fixed.

  • Billy says:

Avis have updated the website. 1000 bonus Avios on header and in the text.
