  I’ve heard people getting about £100 refunded readily when they can prove they didn’t have access to a change of clothes & other essentials. But if you spent the night at home, they (BA) wouldn’t be very sympathetic

  I have an BA 2:1 flight booked LHR to Shanghai on 11/9. I have subsequent flights to Tai Pei to attend a meeting- these were booked through Amex. I have already spent £175 x 2 on China Visas. In case of a strike what happens to the non BA expenses.

    Claim on your travel insurance. BA would only pay out for food, drink and hotel.

  With the avios changes last month, It only cost 50p to cancel a Ex LHR avios booking to Berlin. I’ve made a second booking LCY to Berlin for the same date, so thanks for the heads up before flight prices go sky high IF the above comes to fruition.

  Maybe by coincidence, but I’ve just received an email from BA moving me from my pre-booked exit row seat on a flight on 15th Sept. A quick look on seats alerts shows they have now extended club to row 12 (exit row, hence my moved seat). Possibly condensing passengers on to one flight and cancelling one at a different time?

    Or maybe it’s just a very busy flight. We had CE 1A and 14C ( Ryanair style, well done BA) for a flight in May. Managed to swap 1A for 14A CE ended at 15, no food choice from row 11.

  I presume Iberia flights, even under BA codeshare, are unaffected? I’m not sure whether BA / Iberia ‘share’ pilots in a way that may mean the strike affects Iberia also.

    I believe all of IAG’s operating companies are run independently, so Iberia pilots wouldn’t be a part of this dispute, as they would be on different terms and conditions.

  I have LHR-DXB on 27 Sept booked in CW. Fingers crossed it’s not a strike date. What usually happens to people like me in these situations?

  They cynic in me might suggest that it would be a shrewd move if one were to hold status and perhaps be unlikely to quality for same in the next year to purchase a fully flexible ticket during this period, then cancel it strike or not as in previous major disruption – iceland, IT etc. they have subsequently extended status periods by a year.

  Looks like refundable tickets to Prague have also been removed on 26th September
