Radisson Rewards is adding a Las Vegas hotel redemption option, Treasure Island

  Can anyone recommend either the Park Inn or Radisson Blu at Oslo Airport please? It will be a November stay.

  I have gold radisson status from Amex. I could either book the Radisson Blu for £126 or Park Inn for 44000 Radisson points.

  The Radisson Blu gets quite a few poor reviews on TripAdvisor. Was wondering if anyone had first hand experience of either hotel? Thanks!

    We’ve stayed at both before Qatar flights because I don’t like risking missing flights! Twice at the Radisson two years ago in November, and once at the Park Inn and once at the Radisson in October last year. I have Gold status too. The Park Inn is slightly further away than the Radisson. If it’s cold or snowy you can get to the Radisson through the terminal and the only outside stretch is crossing the road. The Park Inn is about 5-10 minutes walk depending on how much luggage you have.

    Reviews before we stayed suggested the Park Inn was nicer but we preferred the Radisson. It was quieter and breakfast was much better. The rooms we had were also quieter at the Radisson. We didn’t eat dinner at either hotel as there are better (and cheaper) options in the terminal. The welcome gift was nicer at the Radisson as it was some macaroons, chocolates and fruit, and at the Park Inn it was just some chopped fruit. The Park Inn room had some weird sort of multi-coloured disco lights above the bed though if you find that appealing! We got upgraded on all four stays though so you probably also have a reasonable chance at an upgrade.

      Thanks so much for your reply. Will go for the Radisson then. I will be taking my 60ish mum, so the less outside walking in winter, the better! We are also going there the night before our Qatar flights to Asia. Probably won’t have time for breakfast though as flight is at 7:30am!

        Radisson def. Esp w mum. Breakfast on board will be amazing. Food on board so good, hard to resist. Enjoy.

  Thanks very much @Rob for the tip a couple of days ago about the Sofitel LHR T5 Top Secret rate https://headforpoints.com/2018/04/18/book-5-star-sofitel-heathrow-terminal-5/ – I was able to firm up my cancellable booking for next spring now that I have secured F returns, and it knocked the previous hotels.com price down from £240 to £137!

  OT: Tomorrow I am going to cancel 2 First Class Reward Flight Tickets to Sydney for 2nd April 2020 which I purchased speculatively several months ago when I spotted First Class Availability. I believe there is a slight chance they might go back into the Reward Flight Availability and as First Class Tickets to Sydney are rare thought I would let people on here know. I am happy to coordinate the timing if anyone is interested, just post a comment below. Obviously they might not go back into the Reward Flight pool!

  O/T data point re the Amex ICC (US$) – decided to take the plunge and apply, as my UK Platinum fee is due in days, and I never use it because I live outside the UK, but value the insurances. ICC works out slightly cheaper, I might as well take the 30K MR bonus, and the ability to benefit from transfers to SQ holds some value to me too.

  I’d prepared myself for some hurdles, given what’s been reported previously, but it was a much smoother process than I’d expected; applied 27/7, contacted by Amex 2/8 to provide a copy of my passport and confirm my job title, email 11/8 card on the way.

  Shame there’s forex fees on the card, but I have some USD spend, and it’s no worse for me than holding the UK platinum overseas anyway. Hoping I can pay it from Citibank Plus or HSBC Everyday Global accounts, that’s the next hurdle.

    Yes. Only Hilton waives resort fees on rewards.
